Take a closer look at textile art! 🧵 

Constance Grayson’s body of work is currently on display on 146 E. Main Street in Georgetown. Thousands of stitches sewn by an artist’s hang on our gallery’s wall, where you can see the intricate detail threaded into every piece.

Constance Grayson is both a textile artist and painter, evoking botanical landscapes in her collages, pulling inspiration from Appalachian quilting traditions and vintage Japanese fabrics. Her textured tapestries are rich with color and story, each piece of fabric carefully repurposed for her cloth mosaics.

Our gallery’s spring into summer exhibition, “Woven Sky, Wild Earth” features fabric collages designed by Constance Grayson, with colors, forms, and textures inspired by the techniques of her Appalachian Kentucky aunts and vintage Japanese fabrics.

Hockensmith’s Fine Art Editions we’ll be hosting the artist reception at 146 E Main Street on Thursday, June 4th from 5:30 to 8:00 PM. Let’s celebrate contemporary Kentucky art together in the heart of downtown Georgetown!

Constance Grayson’s series of textile paintings explore landscape and botanical forms through layering, stitching and abstraction. Grayson works with fabric as both a material and a language, each of her pieces building terrain and flora from fragments. They are all cut, pieced and quilted into compositions with a tactile surface, her bold colors and visible, shimmery stitches inviting a viewer to take a closer look.

Hockensmith's Fine Art Editions Gallery and Press will be closed on Monday, March 23rd, and every subsequent Monday.

Our new hours are Tuesday–Friday from 9:00 AM–5:30 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM–4:00 PM. Visit our frame shop for customized, personal framing as we welcome spring!
