'We're chasing a moving target,' water plant cybersecurity experts say
https://spectrumlocalnews.com/nys/rochester/news/2026/09/28/we-re-chasing-a-moving-target---water-plant-cybersecurity-experts-say
💧🔒 Cybersecurity isn't just about protecting computers anymore. It's also about protecting essential services like our drinking water and wastewater systems.

Following cyberattacks against more than 100 water systems across 12 states, New York is investing millions of dollars to strengthen cybersecurity defenses for critical water infrastructure. Experts warn that cyber threats are constantly evolving, making this an ongoing challenge for utilities nationwide.

Protecting critical infrastructure requires continuous investment, vigilance, and collaboration between technology experts, government agencies, and utility operators.

New York state is sending millions of dollars to drinking water and wastewater treatment facilities to help beef up cybersecurity.

Aurora Ransomware Operators Use Cursor AI in Attacks Against 10 Targets https://thehackernews.com/2026/08/aurora-ransomware-operators-use-cursor.html
🔐 AI-powered cyber threats are evolving.

A new report reveals that Aurora ransomware operators used Cursor AI to help plan attacks, enumerate networks, and perform exploitation tasks after gaining access to victim environments. The incident demonstrates how threat actors are adopting AI tools to increase the speed and scale of ransomware operations.

Security teams should continue focusing on strong identity protection, privileged access controls, endpoint monitoring, and user awareness training.

Aurora ransomware operators used Cursor Agent for hands-on exploitation against 10 targets after receiving credentials or an existing route.

Beware Of The Latest Online Scams
https://cybersecurityventures.com/security-awareness-training-blog/
💻 Cyber Tip of the Day:
Before clicking that suspicious email, ask yourself:
✅ Is this from my boss?
✅ Does it make sense?
✅ Is it asking for gift cards?
If you answered "gift cards," congratulations! You've probably found a scammer. 🏆😂
Cyber threats are evolving daily, but awareness is still the best antivirus. Stay alert, question weird emails, and help keep the bad guys unemployed.

Anthropic says US government forced it to disable cybersecurity AI models
https://therecord.media/anthropic-says-gov-forced-it-to-disable-cyber-ai-models
🤯 Big news in tech: The U.S. government just forced AI giant Anthropic to shut down its newest models worldwide! 🛑

Anthropic had to abruptly take Fable 5 and Mythos 5 offline after receiving an emergency order banning "foreign nationals"—including its own employees—from using them over national security fears.

The Drama:

The government claims there is a way to "jailbreak" the AI's safety rules.

Anthropic is fighting back, calling it a "misunderstanding" and pointing out that competitors like OpenAI's GPT-5.5 have the exact same minor flaws.

Anthropic warns that this kind of sudden shutdown could completely freeze new AI releases across the entire industry.

What do you think—is this smart government protection, or total overreach? Let me know below! 👇

According to the company, the directive cited national security authorities. It appears to be the first time such authorities have been used to curtail the export of AI models rather than chips or hardware.

AI drives new debate around CISA software patching deadlines
https://federalnewsnetwork.com/cybersecurity/2026/05/ai-drives-new-debate-around-cisa-software-patching-deadlines/
Headline: Is AI making CISA’s patching deadlines obsolete? 🕒💻
As AI accelerates the speed of cyberattacks, the debate over CISA’s federal software patching deadlines is reaching a breaking point.

The Challenge: AI now allows hackers to weaponize new vulnerabilities in hours, not weeks. While CISA currently mandates a 15–30 day window for federal agencies to patch, experts warn that this "window of opportunity" is closing too fast.

The Conflict: * Security: We need to patch faster to keep up with AI-driven exploits.

Operations: Massive federal networks can’t always move at "AI speed" without risking system crashes.

Bottom Line: Compliance is shifting from "meeting a deadline" to a high-speed race of AI vs. AI. To survive, federal defense must move toward continuous, automated remediation.

CISA this year has already started accelerating the deadlines for agencies to patch software bugs posted to the Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog.

What is Mythos AI and why could it be a threat to global cybersecurity?
https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2026/apr/22/what-is-anthropic-mythos-ai-threat-global-cybersecurity
Why Anthropic’s “Mythos” AI has governments on edge
Anthropic has unveiled Mythos, an ultra‑powerful AI designed to find hidden software flaws faster than human experts. The catch? The same tool that can help companies fix decades‑old vulnerabilities could also supercharge cyberattacks if misused.
Because of the risk, Anthropic is restricting access to a small circle of major tech and finance partners and quietly briefing governments worldwide. Reports that unauthorized users may have accessed Mythos via a third‑party vendor have intensified fears about global cybersecurity and AI governance.
Bottom line: AI has crossed a line where it’s not just defending the internet anymore—it could reshape the balance between cyber defence and cyber crime, forcing regulators and companies to rethink how powerful models are released and controlled.

Anthropic’s decision to restrict access to its powerful new model increases fears about the advanced technology
