PCSO is investigating a homicide that happened in Frostproof this afternoon. Sheriff Judd gave details in videos posted to our Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube:

"Sheriff Grady Judd is giving details about a truly horrible situation that occurred in Frostproof this afternoon (Saturday, April 6, 2024) just after 2:00 p.m. 21-year-old Emmanuel Espinoza, who is a pre-med student at the University of Florida, drove to his mother's house here in Polk County and stabbed her to death. He called 911, confessed, and is in custody.

Elvia Espinoza was 46 years old and a second grade teacher at Ben Hill Griffin Elementary School in Frostproof. Her family, friends, students, and colleagues at the school and with Polk County Public Schools are in our prayers.

The suspect will be booked into jail this evening and charged with first degree murder.

hree young men were “massacred” during a fishing trip in Frostproof Friday night in what Sheriff Grady Judd called one of the worst murder scenes he’s ever witnessed.

Due to the Labor Day Holiday, the garbage will be delayed NEXT WEEK by one day to Saturday, Sept. 7th. However, with Hurricane Dorian on its way, there is a chance garbage will be delayed an extra day. We will keep you posted.

Frostproof Sandbag Fill Site Opening

The City of Frostproof sandbag fill site will open today, Aug 28, in preparation for Tropical Storm Dorian.

The fill site location is at the Frostproof Fire Department located at 47 N. Lake Reedy Boulevard, Frostproof, FL 33843.

A maximum of 10 sandbags will be provided to each household. Bag supply is limited and first come first serve.

Joyce Strickland of Frostproof passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at her residence. She was born December 8, 1944 in Lakeland to the late Wade H. “Snooks” and Bessie Wardlaw; she was a lifelong resident of Frostproof. Joyce was a graduate of Florida State University and a member of the Alpha Omega Phi sorority. She grew up and was married in the Methodist church; but has been a member of First Baptist Church in Frostproof for many years. [ 128 more words ]
