Last week, Ukraine honored its defenders. This month, we honor three heroes from the Softjourn family: Oleh Perehuda, Ihor Khodak, and Petro Ursulovych, our colleagues who gave their lives defending Ukraine. Each of them left us something to carry forward.

Oleh believed that when there's a problem, you get up and do something about it.

Ihor never stopped learning and honing his technical skills, even while serving.

Petro always went above and beyond to help those in need, and always knew the right words to say.

In their name, we continue supporting the non-profit 450 PRYKARPATTIA veterans' rehabilitation center and the 50+ units we help fund.

Some of our Ukrainian colleagues are serving in the Armed Forces right now. Many more Softjourners have loved ones in uniform: parents, partners, siblings, children, and friends.

Today, we thank every defender who protects Ukraine. 🇺🇦 We honor the fallen heroes who gave their lives. And we hold in our hearts those who are missing or in captivity, and the families still waiting for them to come home.

To our global community: please keep standing with Ukraine. Your support is felt, and it matters.

We've collected hundreds of case studies, PM feature logs, and other documents over the last 26 years. Why let it sit around and get dusty (can digital files even get dusty? 🤔), when we could turn it into a single knowledge base accessible through a custom Slack bot instead?

Since we were using AI, we figured it would go pretty quickly.

In reality, AI handled about 10% of the work, while the other 90% was tedious data prep, infrastructure, error handling, and testing. Anyone budgeting a similar project should plan around that ratio if they want to be honest with themselves.

And the numbers: six months of part time work, 398 commits, 12 releases, and 3 ingestion pipelines. Now we have a powerful knowledge base built from over two decades of institutional knowledge on our past projects.

Today, Ukraine marks 35 years of independence. 🇺🇦 We're proud to stand with our Ukrainian team as they celebrate.

Ukraine's strength has shown up in its people: colleagues, friends, and neighbors who keep building, creating, and moving forward, even during the hardest times.

Even with our remote-first philosophy, we love any chance to get together. 🎉 And there's no better excuse than 26 years of Softjourn!

Our Ukraine office marked the occasion with a party full of games, toasts, and a whole lot of laughs. There was Prosecco popping, games that had everyone cracking up, and a giant green tiramisu that stole the show.

Twenty-six years of building software, solving problems, and growing together as a team. Here's to many more! 🍾🥂

"Refusing to use AI tools today is like choosing to work with a chisel when a rotary hammer is available." 🔨

One of our senior engineers spent months running an AI-augmented development workflow on a live client project. The results were significant: tasks that took days now take hours, documentation went from a week to minutes, and unit tests now generate in seconds.
