Supernova Remnant Simeis 147 | Seen toward the boundary of the constellations Ta**us and Auriga, it covers nearly 3 degrees or 6 full moons on the sky. That's about 150 light-years at the stellar debris cloud's estimated distance of 3,000 light-years...The supernova remnant has an estimated age of about 40,000 years, meaning light from the massive stellar explosion first reached Earth 40,000 years ago. But the expanding remnant is not the only aftermath. Keeping up a rapid-fire launch cadence to begin 2022, SpaceX is gearing up to launch another Falcon 9 rocket Tuesday night from Kennedy Space Center in Florida with 49 Starlink internet satellites.

Liftoff from pad 39A is set for 7:04 p.m. EST Tuesday (0004 GMT Wednesday), following a one-day delay to wait for better conditions in the offshore booster recovery zone north of the Bahamas.

...A world first: Ocean drone captures video from inside a hurricane...

Saildrone Inc. and NOAA have released the first video footage gathered by an uncrewed surface vehicle (USV) from inside a major hurricane moving across the Atlantic Ocean.

The Saildrone Explorer SD 1045 was directed into the midst of Hurricane Sam, a category 4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale, which is currently on a path that, fortunately, will miss the U.S. east coast. SD1045 is battling 50 foot waves and winds of more than 120 mph to collect critical scientific data and, in the process, give us a completely new view of one of earth’s most destructive forces.
