Connect U, LLC

We provide friendly in-home tech support services that empower people of all ages & experience levels to use their smart devices confidently. Why?

With patient, judgment-free guidance, we make setup, data transfer, & learning simple, stress-free, & enjoyable. **THE BOLD LEAP OF FAITH** Picture this: Two successful professionals at the peak of their careers - Jason, a 13-year industry veteran ranked in the top 1% nationwide and a 6-time President's Club honoree, and Lydia, who climbed from sales rep to District Manager in just 7 years through her dynamic leadership qualities. We had everything - security, recognition, steady paychecks. Then we did something crazy. We walked away from it all. Because every single day, we watched the same heartbreaking scene unfold: customers leaving stores more confused than when they arrived. The industry seemed obsessed with only selling the next device. Customers often wondered if it actually mattered whether they knew how to use them or not. We couldn’t stand it anymore. So we made the scariest decision of our lives - we became **first-time entrepreneurs** with a mission bigger than ourselves. We traded our corporate safety nets for the chance to revolutionize how people experience technology support. **20+ years of combined expertise. 100% customer satisfaction records. Zero regrets.** This wasn’t just a career change - it was a calling. And now, we’re here to prove that tech support can be patient, personal, and actually empowering.

Here is the MYTH for Monday: “Charging my phone overnight ruins the battery.”

We have been asked many times,
“Is it bad that I leave my phone plugged in while I sleep?”

For most modern smartphones, charging overnight is fine.

Phones are now smarter about charging than they used to be. Modern iPhones and Android phones have built-in battery management designed to protect the battery while it charges.

Your phone can learn your charging routine and delay charging past a certain point until closer to when you normally unplug it.

Excessive heat can be harder on your battery over time than leaving your phone plugged in overnight.

A few simple habits can help:
• Use a quality, compatible charger
• Avoid charging your phone somewhere that traps heat, like underneath a pillow or blanket
• Turn on your phone’s battery protection or optimized charging features
• Don’t stress about unplugging it the second it reaches 100%

Technology is ever changing and some of the advice we’ve heard for years hasn’t caught up.

Spread the word that Connect U is here to Simplify Tech and Empower You!

📱 Tech Tip Tuesday

A workshop participant recently asked us:
“Why does my phone battery die so quickly? Do I need a new one?”

Here’s where we started:

🔋 1. Check Battery Health

First, we checked the battery’s overall health to see if it was still performing as it should.

📱 iPhone:
Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging

🤖 Android:
Many Android phones don’t display battery health, but you can check Settings > Battery for battery usage and overall battery information. Some manufacturers also include a Battery Health feature.

⚡ 2. Turn On Low Power Mode

When you need your battery to last longer, Low Power Mode (or Battery Saver) can make a noticeable difference.

📱 iPhone:
Settings > Battery > Low Power Mode

🤖 Android:
Settings > Battery > Battery Saver

🔄 3. Limit Background App Refresh

Many apps continue updating in the background even when you’re not using them. Limiting this for apps that don’t need it can help extend battery life.

📱 iPhone:
Settings > General > Background App Refresh

🤖 Android:
Go to Settings > Apps > (Select an App) > Battery and limit background activity for apps you don’t use often. (The exact wording varies by device.)

These changes can make a noticeable difference, but they’re only part of the picture.

There are plenty of other hidden culprits that can quietly drain your battery, from location services and screen brightness to apps that use more power than you realize. You just need to know where to look. That’s where Connect U comes in to help!

💡 Tech Tip Tuesday: Keep Your Screen Awake Longer!
Does your phone screen keep going dark before you're finished reading a recipe, filling out a form, or following directions?
A quick settings change can give you more time before your screen locks.

iPhone:
Open Settings
Tap Display & Brightness
Select Auto-Lock
Choose a longer time (we recommend 2–5 minutes based on your preference)
Note: If Auto-Lock is grayed out, Low Power Mode may be turned on.

🤖 Android: (Instructions may vary slightly by manufacturer.)
Open Settings
Tap Display
Tap Screen Timeout (or Screen Timeout & Lock)
Select a longer time, such as 2–5 minutes

What's one smartphone feature you've always wanted to learn? Let us know in the comments. We may feature it in an upcoming Tech Tip Tuesday!

If Connect U has helped you, inspired you, or made technology a little less frustrating, we'd be grateful for your support.
We're honored to be nominated for the SASS Choice Awards in Computer & Tech Services. Please continue to VOTE daily! https://sassmagazinellc.secondstreetapp.com/og/eb2712ea-7836-4b0a-b924-4c43114d2889/gallery/544093772

🚫 MYTH MONDAY

Myth: “I can always tell when a text or email is a scam.”

Reality: Even tech-savvy people get fooled.

Scammers have become incredibly convincing. They use company logos, state seals, fake delivery notices, bank alerts, Amazon orders, toll road bills, and urgent messages designed to make you react before you think.

One tiny click can lead to stolen passwords, financial loss, or identity theft.

At Connect U, one of the biggest topics we teach in our workshops is how to recognize the warning signs before it’s too late. We don’t just tell you scams exist; we show you exactly what to look for using real examples like this one.

🛑 Before you tap a link, remember:
• Slow down.
• Check the sender.
• Never trust urgency.
• When in doubt, verify another way.

Knowledge is your best protection.

Have you received a scam text recently? Tell us what it looked like in the comments. It might help someone else avoid becoming a victim.

Technology shouldn't be something you have to figure out alone.

Too often we hear people say...
"I don't want to bother my kids." "I'm embarrassed to ask."
"Everyone else seems to understand this except me."

Learning technology is about having someone who is willing to slow down, answer your questions, and meet you where you are.
That's why Connect U workshops are different.

We don't stand at the front of the room and lecture.
We walk beside you. We answer questions.
We provide one-on-one help throughout every workshop.

Real confidence comes from doing!

Our greatest reward isn't teaching someone how to use their phone.
It's watching the moment they realize... "I CAN do this!"

That's why Connect U, LLC exists: Simplify Tech and Empower You.

🏆 SASS Choice Awards voting is still open!

If Connect U has made technology feel less overwhelming or you've seen the difference we're making in our community, we'd be honored to have your vote. Your support means everything to our small business. https://sassmagazinellc.secondstreetapp.com/og/eb2712ea-7836-4b0a-b924-4c43114d2889/gallery/544093772

📱 MYTH MONDAY

Did your phone tell you it's almost out of storage after the holiday weekend? 🎆
Between fireworks, family gatherings, and hundreds of photos and videos, it's no surprise if you saw that dreaded "Storage Almost Full" message.

🚫 MYTH: "It's time for a new phone."
✅ TRUTH: In many cases, your phone doesn't need replacing, it just needs a little attention.

Your storage may be filled with:
📸 Photos and videos
📁 Large text files
📥 Old downloads
📱 Apps you no longer use

A few simple changes can often free up space, improve performance, and help keep your memories organized—without spending money on a new device.

At Connect U, we love helping people get the most out of the technology they already own.

💬 Have you ever gotten the "Storage Almost Full" message? Tell us "YES" in the comments if you have!
