Good morning and happy Tuesday!

We are currently experiencing a power outage at the large Kokomo Grain facility in Edinburgh. Customers served from this site, including those connected through the McCain and Barlow elevator locations, will be without internet service until utility power is restored.

At this time, the local REMC has not provided an estimated time for restoration.

We’ll continue to monitor the outage and provide updates as more information becomes available. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

⚠️ SEVERE WEATHER NOTICE – INTERNET COMMUNICATIONS INC.

A large line of strong to severe thunderstorms is currently moving through portions of our service area. The National Weather Service has a Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect until 9:00 PM, with damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and localized flash flooding possible. (National Weather Service)

Customers may experience brief service interruptions, rain fade, or outages as the storms move through. High winds and lightning can also cause commercial power outages or damage equipment at tower locations.

Our network will continue to be monitored throughout the storm. For the safety of our technicians, field repairs may be delayed while severe weather or lightning is present. Any sites affected by commercial power outages should automatically restore as utility power returns.

Please stay weather-aware and allow the storm to pass before reporting brief interruptions.

We have halted field service work for today as another round of storms and extreme downpours moves into the area. With the intensity of the rainfall, some temporary rain fade and service degradation should be expected.

We are also still monitoring two tower sites that remain offline due to commercial power outages. Once utility power is restored, those sites should return to service automatically.

For everyone’s safety, our field crews will remain off the towers and out of exposed work areas until conditions improve.

Good morning. Here’s an update for our service area following yesterday’s derecho.

Despite multiple waves of severe storms and widespread damage, local utility companies have made significant progress restoring power. At this time, all of our tower sites are back online except one in Shelby County.

The Stephenson tower near Rushville Road remains without commercial power. This is a connecting site that feeds Smith, Ramsey, and Foltz Elevators, so those locations will remain offline until power is restored at Stephenson. Once Duke Energy restores power to that tower, the affected sites should automatically reconnect and return to service.

With all other sites now reporting normally, customers can resume reporting isolated service outages so our team can identify any individual issues that may have resulted from yesterday’s storms.

Please keep in mind that additional rounds of severe weather are expected today, with an increasing tornado threat. Additional power outages and service interruptions remain possible as these storms move through the area.

Please stay weather-aware and, most importantly, stay safe.

There is a significant amount of storm damage across northeastern Shelby County, with numerous trees and power lines down.

From our own observations, Knightstown Road should be avoided if possible. Duke Energy crews are actively working on downed power lines, and there is significant tree debris throughout the area.

Please use caution, give utility crews plenty of room to work, and avoid any downed lines.

There are several of our repeater sites in this area without power.

⚠️ SEVERE WEATHER UPDATE ⚠️

As much as we hate saying it, once again we are dealing with some extreme weather this afternoon across portions of our service areas.

Although we haven’t seen the reported 100+ mph winds and 2-inch hail that some of our friends to the north have experienced, these storms have still been fairly intense.

If you are experiencing an outage, please wait for the storms to completely pass before troubleshooting equipment or going outside. Also, check for power outages in your immediate area, as there are currently numerous power outages in and around our service footprint.

Our team will continue monitoring the network and responding to issues as conditions allow. Safety comes first—for our customers and our crews.

Stay safe out there!
