It was 30 years ago today, July 15th, 1995, that we set out in our rock ‘n’ roll mini bus towards Port Washington, WI to do our first ever event as Go Audio – the family stage at Port Washington Fish Day. It rained (of course), but overall the gig went well. (No pictures of the actual show, but one of the R&R bus and another of our first ‘official’ warehouse – a 10x20 mini storage unit.) Now, here we are 30 years later with a LOT to be thankful for.
First, to our clients, all the companies, colleges, artists, venues, meeting planners and promoters we’ve worked with over the years – thank you! Thanks for giving us an opportunity and putting your trust in us. Thanks for allowing us to be the resource you know you can always rely on. Thanks for all the great friendships we have built.
To my staff – all the employees and freelancers, both past and present – you are my brothers and sisters and I owe you all a major debt of gratitude. Each one of you has brought with you skills and ways to make this company better than I ever imagined it could be and you have always been there with a can-do, customer-first attitude and for that I am forever grateful.
To all of our partners and vendors – thank you for being the greatest team a guy could ask for. As they say, it takes an army to build a village and in this industry, one company can never do it all. You take whatever crazy ideas or needs we have (even in the 11th hour) and make it happen, no BS, every time, and that is worth its weight in gold.
To my parents for believing in me and not losing their minds when this engineering school graduate told them that he wanted to abandon that and become a dirty roadie. To my Grandpa, Harold Gruetzman, for trusting in my vision enough to loan me $10,000 to buy my first PA system. (He got paid back with interest.)
To my amazing wife, Amanda and my beautiful daughter, Claire – two of the most understanding and forgiving people ever. I have missed more birthdays, anniversaries, special events and holidays than I care to remember. I have been gone long stretches at a time. I have come home so exhausted I have no energy to help out around the house. And yet these two continue to love and support me for who I am. Love you both more than you can know.
To my mentors and friends who have taught, supported, promoted and stood by me – Bob Mittnacht, Tom Fay, Aaron Zimmermann, Rich Sellers, Bob Theno and many more I know that I’m forgetting.
My sincere thanks, love and gratitude to all who have made this journey so magical!
Cheers,
Brian
