By placing underground ABF microducts in rural areas, this allows for optical fiber to be “jetted” through small tubes, using high pressured nitrogen or dehumidified compressed air. This system greatly reduces installation time between locations. We can jet fiber optic lines in excess of 200’ /min.
At the same time, maximizing buried pathway capabilities, and reducing the construction costs by directional drilling once, instead of multiple projects over time.

For a high technology driven steel manufacturer, it is critical to have a solid optical fiber backbone in place. Just as the brain and body cannot fully and properly operate without a healthy spine and neural highway, it is the exact same for a high demand network.

For this very reason, we designed and built a jetted fiber (ABF) system to fully provide multiple internal network systems, while connecting the manufacturing plant facilities. This fiber infrastructure covers the internal I.T. and OT/NZE connectivity that allows for a free flowing steel manufacturing automation system super highway.

In the video, we are installing Duraline Future-Path 14/10mm microduct with 4.5 mm (48F) singlemode OS2 optical micro-fiber cables. The fiber was jetted using high volume compressed air over a 2,000’ total distance. We used our GMP Micro-Drive jet-head, which is specifically designed for these types of ABF installations. All of the optical fiber connectivity is the Panduit OptiComm system.

For this project, we used air, but in similar applications, UN 1066 compressed nitrogen works great. NI 1066 refers to the UN number for nitrogen, a colorless, odorless, and non-flammable gas. It's a hazard class 2.2 meaning it's a compressed gas that's not flammable.

We are up here in northeastern Arkansas working to get this steel plant up and running. Today, we completed our site mobilization and tomorrow, we start the optical fiber installation. We have 2.5 miles of glass under roof on this phase of the project. Let’s go!

It is a huge honor for us to be a part of this amazing group. It was a privilege to have the opportunity to show off some of the work we are proud to build. This cutting edge technology of DC powered devices and PoE is currently disrupting the conventional electrical industries, and will no doubt be the way of the future. It’s exciting to be on the leading wave of these innovations, while collaborating with so many brilliant minds. It’s pretty cool to know that we partnered with Sinclair Digital, TRICO Electrical, Mouser Electronics, and BHB Architects, to design-build from “scratch” the largest DC PoE powered lighting system ever installed.

Maybe I’m biased, but I think we make an amazing team! Let’s go!
