Most businesses think they’re protected because they “have backups,” but that confidence is often untested and misplaced. Backups only matter if they are secure from attackers and proven to work when needed. If they can be accessed, encrypted, or have never been tested through a real restore process, they won’t save you in a crisis. A true backup strategy isn’t about having copies of data, it’s about knowing with certainty that you can recover if everything goes wrong.
