Ours is not simply an interactive for cultural creatives, but an on-going story of a community in formation. nstruct the codes, break the patterns, and rewrite the rules of social, political and cultural interaction; providing individuals and groups with the means through which to produce and distribute their own goods. Among the codes being deconstructed by the cultural creatives is the distinction between life and work. We desire to make our living by living the lives we desire, and it is our desire to create a space that will support the work of others. We choose to live according to a set of values outside the mainstream, and yet, we are not opposed to the status quo. We value freedom, and yet, we choose to build and live in self-sustaining communities. We are a community of the alienated, estranged and dispossessed. We take personal responsibility for our lives, and yet, we are committed to the health and welfare of others. Our identity is ...informed by a community without unity, a community that values difference as the source of creativity. We recognize the limits of modernization and globalization, and yet, we refuse the reactionary ethos/pathos of so-called traditional values. We yearn for the sense of wisdom and spirituality lacking in our era of mass media and information technology, and yet, we realize that this sense of wisdom and spirituality will be developed and shared with the help of technology. We value the mysterious and ineffable not simply as knowledge yet to be discovered, but as a glimpse into the transcendent and unknowable, reminding us of our own limits and finitude as it opens us to a world beyond our reach, and possibilities we have yet to fathom.
