This recap goes from registration on the first morning to the group photo on stage, with the sessions, the open debate and the roundtables in between, and it shows the part we enjoy most about this conference, which is how much of it happens in conversations between people who do the same work in different countries.

This is how day two started in Dublin.

Elisabeth Braw opened the morning with her keynote on finding the shadow fleet, and from there the day moved through a transatlantic panel that put European and US regulators on the same stage and a crisis scenario built around a voluntary self-disclosure. Then came the breaks, which is where people stand around with a coffee, keep arguing the point from the last session and meet someone who does the same job in another country, and that is half the reason for coming.

The roundtables have just wrapped up, and the awards and the closing session are still ahead.

Day 1 of the ACSS European Conference on Global Sanctions and Export Controls is a wrap. We spent it in Dublin with practitioners from across the sanctions and export controls community, moving between sessions, expert briefings and twelve roundtables that ran in parallel in two rounds of forty minutes each, on topics that went from semiconductors and licensing to using AI to detect circumvention. Here is how the day looked.

Between the keynote on AI for compliance and the expert briefings, day one in Dublin moves into the exhibit area and the breakout rooms. That is where practitioners compare what they are seeing in their own jurisdictions, and it is as much a part of the programme as the sessions on stage.
