1) Easier Microsoft MFA
Once set up, signing into your Microsoft account is faster — instead of typing a code, you simply touch the key to approve MFA.

2) Much stronger protection against account takeover
This is the bigger win. FIDO2 keys are phishing-resistant, meaning even if a user is tricked into entering their email, password, and an MFA code on a fake Microsoft page, the attacker still can’t get in.

The key verifies the real Microsoft login site before allowing access, which helps stop modern attacks like session cookie theft and account hijacking.
