Today I am officially re-opening Honest Repair, but in a limited capacity. I will be starting to take on a small amount of jobs here and there now that my schedule has slightly opened up.

As a lot of my time is spent at home, I don't always answer phone calls. In order to reach me, I recommend contacting me on Signal to ensure your message is seen and responded to. You can add me on Signal here:

My name is Reid, I am the sole owner of Honest Repair. Welcome to my virtual business card!

Hey everyone, it's Reid, your friendly neighborhood tech guy. Some of you may have noticed I have been temporarily closed on Google for about 2 months, and have left some of my customers without the support they need for quite a long time now. To those people, I sincerely apologize for completely going off the grid without any explanation, I hope this post serves as that explanation.

I've been dealing with some family health issues. It's nothing life-threatening, however I did have to shut down my business in order to take care of it full time. I won't provide specifics for privacy reasons. In addition, I don't know when or if I will be re-opening.

I do have some potential good news though, there are currently some things in the works that, if done correctly, could have major benefits to lots of St. Louisans, and I'll have help! I don't know what the future holds, but I want to thank all of my customers for being extremely patient and incredible people, but also for restoring my passion for technology. I hope to get back to it soon!

I was recently a guest on KJFF Newsmakers! Check out the interview where we discuss the end of Windows 10, what that means for the average computer user, and what you can do to take back your freedom of ownership:

This website is so cool, it explains how Windows 10 is going away and what people can do about it. There is a list of participating repair shops and places, and now we have 1 in Kansas City, and one in St Louis (me) who agree to provide Linux installations and support to those who need it!

Windows 10 ends in 2025. Don’t buy a new PC — revive yours with Linux. It's fast, secure, and help is available to get you started.

Windows 10 will be discontinued in October 2025!
DO NOT THROW AWAY YOUR COMPUTERS!

There are plenty of ways to continue using your older computers:

1. Linux, the free and open source operating system that with breathe new life into your old computer
2. Bypassing the Windows 11 requirements, if Microsoft tells you that your computer isn't good enough for Windows 11, let me show them otherwise
3. Windows 10 IoT LTSC, for those that prefer Windows 10 you can use the enterprise version of Windows 10 that will receive updates until January 13, 2032. You can also install Windows 11 IoT LTSC which will be good until October 10, 2034

Reach out if you have any questions! Even if you don't need my services I am happy to answer any questions free of charge!

I've been working on the decor at my repair shop, what do you think? My inspiration comes from a high school computer teacher I had, and he had a bunch on motherboards screwed to the wall in his classroom. I always thought it looked cool so I went ahead and improved on the design with some 90's computer cases for shelving.

I have just received a VERY generous donation, which included a working Apple Macintosh IIgs and an original and functioning Sega Genesis! I plan to put the IIgs up in front of the store with my logo on it, and the Sega Genesis is going in my display case.

I have Michael Kohn to thank for this incredible gift, he tracked me down after I created a post on Reddit in r/StLouis, and wanted me to display everything in my shop, and I am happy to!

Mike also has a very interesting website filled with weird and fun projects he's done over the years. For example, he made a drone out of chicken bones for... some reason😅

I learned today what dedication and strength it takes to make it to eagle scout, so starting today I will be offering 10% to all eagle scouts in honor of Connor Mooney, the world's newest eagle scout. He gets the family discount though 😁
