The Transactional Flash Translation Layer, or TFTL™, is what enables eXtremeDB/rt to deliver reliable ACID-compliant database transactions directly on unmanaged flash memory devices, without the use of a latency inducing file system.

Pipelining is the programming technique in eXtremeDB that accelerates processing by combining the database system’s over 150 built-in vector-based statistical functions into assembly lines of processing for time series data with the output of one function becoming input for the next.

Calculations are pipelined in order to keep data within CPU cache during its transformation by multiple functions. Without pipelining, interim results from each function would be transferred back and forth between CPU cache and main memory, imposing significant latency due to the relatively lower-bandwidth front side bus (FSB) or quick path interconnect (QPI) between the two.

Without eXtremeDB Asymmetric Multiprocessing (AMP):
Linux and RTOS spend all day sending messages like a dysfunctional couple.

With eXtremeDB AMP:
They share memory, stop arguing, and actually get work done.

In case you missed it, Hard “Real-Time Database Management on Raw Flash Memory: From Complex Infrastructure to Streamlined Drivers” Embedded systems are data-driven and demand structured persistence with predictable performance. Raw flash provides deterministic, low-latency access, while a real-time database management system (DBMS) supplies the infrastructure for transactions and recovery. This article demonstrates that only their combination delivers efficient, reliable storage for hard real-time tasks. Read the technical article in Embedded.com

In case you missed it the first time we invite you to read the article, "Time-critical sensor data fusion in mission-critical hard real-time applications". https://t.ly/eo3l_

There are many use cases of time-critical sensor data fusion. These systems acquire data from multiple types of sensors and other sources, then conduct some analysis on the data to determine some action. For this to work, the system needs to be looking at a coherent set of data from a consistent time slice. In other words, it would be a bad thing if an ADAS system was looking at LIDAR data from one time slice but optical camera or GPS data from another time slice.

In case you missed it the 1st time, “Distributed Database Systems Relevance to the Internet of Things”. This article covers the types of distributed database systems in the context of edge, fog and cloud computing, explain “when, how and why” the data is distributed, and why those details make certain distributed database systems applicable (or not) to specific needs in edge, fog and cloud computing.

Develop before hardware exists! The eXtremeDB/rt Flash Simulator enables developers to build, test, and evaluate flash-based applications without requiring physical storage hardware. By emulating both managed storage devices and raw NAND and NOR flash memory, the simulator removes hardware dependencies early in the development cycle and reduces integration risk before deployment.

Unlike a simple storage emulator, the Flash Simulator can also model flash operation timing and media faults, enabling evaluation of both functional behavior and real-time capabilities.
