If I were branding 10 completely different businesses, would I give them all the same color palette?

Absolutely not. 😂

A beauty brand, a real estate business, a photographer, and a downtown coffee shop are speaking to completely different people — so their branding, color palette, typography, and visual identity should reflect that.

I gave myself a little branding challenge and created a 4-color palette for 10 different business types based on the vibe I’d want each brand to communicate.

Because choosing brand colors isn’t just about picking four colors that look good together.

It’s about creating a visual identity that feels intentional, connects with your target audience, and makes your business recognizable.

And honestly? Some of these were VERY fun to put together.

Which business type would you want to see me create a palette for next? 👀

You’re allowed to step away from your business.

Life gets busy. You get overwhelmed. You take a vacation. You need a break from social media.

That shouldn’t mean your business disappears with you.

A strategic website gives your business a place to keep working when you can’t — helping potential clients understand who you are, what you offer, and how to work with you without requiring you to be online 24/7.

And if you already have a website, it’s worth asking:

Is it actually supporting your business?

Because having a website and having an effective website are two very different things.

Your online presence should make your business easier to run, reflect the quality of your brand, and create a seamless experience for the people you want to work with.

You don’t need to show up everywhere, all the time.

You just need an online presence that can carry some of the weight when you can’t.

And that’s exactly what a thoughtfully designed website should do. 🤍

A flyer gets people interested. A ticket makes the event feel real.

For this project, I designed a cohesive event flyer and ticket for the Fall River Elks Riders’ upcoming Comedy Night.

The goal wasn’t just to make two nice-looking pieces of event collateral. It was to create a visual direction that carried across both designs so the entire event felt intentional, polished, and connected.

The flyer needed to grab attention and communicate the important event details quickly. The ticket needed to feel just as considered once it was in someone’s hands.

Same event. Different purpose. One cohesive design.

And honestly? The ticket design might be my favorite part of this one.

I love when graphic design gets to exist beyond a screen and become an actual part of an experience—especially when it’s something as tangible as an event ticket.

If you’re planning a comedy show, fundraiser, event, or special gathering, your flyer, tickets, signage, and other event materials don’t have to feel like separate pieces. They can work together to create one recognizable experience.

A brand can be brand new and still feel like it has a story behind it.

That was the idea behind Hearth & Hide — a custom brand identity for a denim + leather goods brand inspired by craftsmanship, heritage, and timeless American style.

I wanted this identity to feel worn-in, not worn-out. Rugged, but refined. Nostalgic without feeling stuck in the past.

The color palette brings together warm leather browns, soft neutrals, charcoal, gray, and a faded light blue inspired by well-worn denim. From there, I built out a complete logo suite designed to feel just as natural on a storefront as it does on a denim patch, hang tag, or sticker.

The final identity includes a primary logo, secondary logo, brand stamp, custom icons, supporting sticker designs, typography, color palette, and branded applications.

Because a strong logo design shouldn’t only look good on a presentation board.

It should make sense everywhere the brand exists.

That’s the difference between designing a logo and building a brand identity.

Hearth & Hide — made to wear. Made to last.

AI can be incredibly helpful when you use it to help you think; ideas, inspiration, brainstorming, exploring different directions.

But lately, I’ve been seeing businesses use AI to create the actual visuals they put out into the world, and it’s becoming very obvious.

And to be VERY clear: this is not a debate about whether you should or shouldn’t use AI.

I’m talking specifically about using AI to create the visual design for your business. EX: graphics, flyers, images, branding, website visuals, even logos.

Because here’s what I keep noticing:

They all start looking the same.

Same layouts.
Same visual elements.
Same typography.
Same hierarchy.
Same overall “AI look.”

Maybe the colors change. Maybe the wording changes.

But the design itself?

It’s not original.

And your visual identity is supposed to help people recognize your business.

AI-generated design isn’t a brand.

As a designer, I immediately notice the awkward spacing, graphic errors, visual inconsistencies and sometimes, most importantly, that there’s simply nothing distinctive about it.

I’m not anti-AI. I think it can be an incredibly useful tool when you use it to assist your creative process rather than handing it the entire creative process.

Use it for ideas. Use it for inspiration. Use it to explore possibilities.

But when it comes to the actual design you’re putting your business name behind?

Make it yours.

Because your business deserves more than something that looks like everyone else’s.

Could your latest graphic belong to anyone else?

Your URL is saying more than you think.

And if you’re a small business owner, your domain name and website are part of your first impression.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with using a free website address from Wix, Canva, or another website builder. But when you’re building a business, owning a custom domain gives your online presence a more professional, established feel.

It’s a small investment that can make a big difference.

But a professional website is about more than having your own domain.

Your website should help potential customers find you, understand what you offer, trust your business, and take the next step.

That’s where strategic website design comes in.

A good small business website should be:

→ Easy to navigate
→ Mobile-friendly
→ Search-engine friendly
→ Built around your brand
→ Clear about what you offer
→ Designed with your customer in mind
→ Functional from start to finish

And yes, SEO matters too.

Your website is another opportunity to show up when someone searches for the products or services you offer — especially through Google search and local search.

But here’s the part I think gets overlooked:

You don’t need the biggest website. You need the right website.

The right pages.
The right information.
The right functionality.
The right strategy.

And most importantly, a website that actually feels like your business.

That’s what I focus on when I build a custom website through Social Buzz. I want the design, copy, SEO, functionality, and overall experience to work together — not just look pretty on a screen.

Because sometimes, it really is about the bells and whistles.

Your domain.
Your branding.
Your copy.
Your design.
The little details that make someone land on your website and immediately understand who you are and what you do.

You’re not just building a website.

You’re building the online version of your business.

And it should feel like you. ✨

At some point, every business reaches a season where “good enough” just isn’t good enough anymore.

Your website isn’t just another item on your to-do list. It’s your online home, your first impression, and often the first chance someone has to decide whether they trust your business.

The same goes for your branding. A custom brand identity and strategic website design should tell your story, showcase your work, and help your business stand out—not blend in with another template.

If you’ve been relying on social media alone, putting off a website redesign, or feeling like your branding no longer reflects the quality of your business, maybe this is your sign.

Build the website. Invest in the branding. Create a business that’s memorable from the very first click.

You’re amazing at what you do.

You’ve built a business around your talent, your creativity, and the experience you provide your clients.

But have you ever thought about what happens after someone finds you?

They see your Instagram.
They fall in love with your work.
They think, “I need this.”

Then they click your profile…

…and your next step is simply:

“DM me to book.”

And while that may have worked for you so far, it may also be creating a moment of hesitation for potential clients.

What do they say?
What details do you need?
Did their message go through?
Are they reaching out the right way?

A website gives your clients a place to experience your business before they ever inquire.

A place to showcase your work.
Share your story.
Explain your services.
Answer questions.
And guide them through the booking process with confidence.

Because your client experience starts long before someone becomes a client.

Your business deserves an online home that feels just as intentional as the work you create.

So ask yourself…

If someone discovered your business today, would they know exactly what to do next? ✨

Some of the hardest-working business owners I know are still relying on social media to do everything.

Answer inquiries.
Send pricing.
Explain services.
Build trust.
Convince people to book.

But your website should be doing most of that work for you.

It should tell your story before you ever answer a message.
It should showcase the quality of your work before a client asks to see more.
It should give potential clients confidence before they ever hit “Contact.”

If your online presence still depends on DMs, emails, or a page, it might not be because your business isn’t ready.

It might simply be because your website hasn’t caught up to the business you’ve already built.

When I design a website, I don’t start with a template—I start with you.

Every website I create is custom-designed around your business, your goals, and the experience you want your clients to have. No cookie-cutter layouts. No AI-generated designs. Just a thoughtful online presence that reflects the quality of your work.

All I need is your story, your photos, and the details of what you do.

I’ll take care of the rest.

✨ If your business has outgrown social media alone, let’s build a website that’s ready to grow with you.

If I were designing your website, here’s what would be gone immediately:

— Outdated branding that no longer matches the level of your business
Your website is your first impression — and if your branding feels behind, inconsistent, or unclear, potential clients notice.

— No clear offer
If someone lands on your site and can’t immediately tell what you do, who you serve, or how to work with you… you’re already losing them.

— Hard-to-find contact info
If people are ready to inquire, your website should make that easy — not frustrating.

— No location details
Whether you’re local or remote, people want clarity. Where are you based? Who do you serve? Make it obvious.

— Poor mobile design
Your website can look incredible on desktop, but if it’s messy on mobile, slow, or hard to navigate… that’s a problem.

— Broken links
Nothing says neglected faster than clicking a button that goes nowhere.

— No personal introduction
People want to know who they’re working with. Your website should build trust before the first inquiry.

— Pretty design with no strategy
A beautiful website means very little if it isn’t built to guide, connect, and convert.

Your website should do more than just exist.
It should sell before you ever have to.
