The Brick Store

The Brick Store A restored 1830s General Store, repurposed as a studio, coworking space & small event space Follow along for updates.

The Brick Store: Located in Fairfield Center, the building has been restored to maintain its historical significance. The owner, Christa Driscoll, has repurposed the storefront as a co-working space, with a kitchenette, lounge rooms and high speed internet. The building will also facilitate her graphic design and art studio, including a workshop for her heirloom letterpress and custom stationery.

I just got these photos to share, and I still can’t quite believe a *Wedding Dinner* this beautiful happened at the Brick Store last month! 💛

I keep looking through them with the biggest smile, a little in awe that this joyful evening unfolded inside these old brick walls. The color, the layers, the handmade details. Seeing the store become the backdrop for a day they—and everyone gathered around that long table—will remember for years to come feels incredibly special.

Tess got ready here, which I am still dying over. That incredible dress in the upstairs space, with the most romantic sleeves…ever.

After an intimate outdoor ceremony a few miles away, everyone returned to the Brick Store for dinner. Tess brought together the most thoughtful details: thrifted tablecloths and dinnerware, handmade paper chains, gorgeous flowers from Heart & Soil Farm, colorful glassware, and the most delicious food by Salt & Rind Events.

And you know I love a good table setting. This one though! Nothing felt expected or overly done. Every part of it felt personal, welcoming, joyful, and entirely its own.

This building was created as a space for folks to gather, collaborate, make things, and share ideas. Watching it also become a place where people celebrate, make memories, and begin a life together has left me a little speechless 🙂

📸 As always, it was so hard to narrow these photos down. And they really are film—captured by Mel Tata Photography. The color, warmth, and wonderfully imperfect feeling of film couldn’t be a more perfect match for the Brick Store or for this day

Tess and Rob, thank you for letting the Brick Store hold a little piece of your story 🤍

And if these photos have you imagining your own special gathering here, feel free to reach out. I’d love to hear what you’re dreaming up.

✨ Please share this with friends and family who are planning something special—or anyone who would love a little completely gorgeous, one-of-a-kind event inspiration ✨

PS: I have to ask — what’s your favorite part?

I love this photo from last year 🧡 These are some of my very bestest friends who came out for our very first Night Bazaar Pop-Up Market, and it makes me smile every time I see it. We had so much fun, and I’m so excited that we get to do it again — so *save the date* for Saturday, October 10, 6–9pm at The Brick Store!

You guys are really what made that night amazing. You spread the word, brought your people, showed up, and trusted that this little after-dark market in an old building was going to be something special. So many people came through the doors to support some awesome local businesses, some even sold out…which is still pretty wild to me 🤗

So this year, make a night of it! Make it a date night, bring your BFF as your date, your sister, your mom, your neighbor, your person — whoever you want to spend a fun fall evening with. Send this their way to spread the word, again 💗

We’ll have local makers and artists, good food and drinks, shopping, café lights, and those glowing stars and moons overhead on all 3 floors 🌙✨

Tell your friends, bring your people, and let’s fill this old building up again! 🏠

Looking for food vendors on Oct 10th — any ideas? ✨💛✨

We’re bringing back the Night Bazaar Pop-Up Market at the Brick Store on Saturday, October 10th, and this year I’d to add some delicious food to the evening!

Last year’s Night Bazaar had such an incredible turnout — hundreds of people came through over the course of the night — and I was so appreciative of everyone who helped make it feel magical ✨

This year we’re looking for a food truck, pop-up, or local food vendor (or two!) who might like to join us.

The Night Bazaar is an after-dark market at our almost 200-year-old Brick Store, softly lit by only café lights, filled with local makers, music, drinks, shopping, and lots of people wandering in and out throughout the evening.

If you run a food truck, catering business, food pop-up, or know someone who would be a great fit, please tag them below or send us a message! I’d be so grateful for recommendations 🤍

One of my favorite little details here is hidden inside these old bins ✍🏻

If you lift the lids, you’ll still find handwritten labels inside — Sugar and Rice — left behind from another era. Every time I see them, I find myself imagining what this space looked like when it was still a working general store.

Nearly two hundred years ago, these bins would have held flour, sugar, rice, and other staples. Customers would have walked through these same doors, while in the attached barn a wooden bull wheel, with a thick rope and iron hook were used to hoist heavy sacks into the store. Those doors and the bull wheel are still in working order, amazingly enough!

Imagine all the people who have come through here over the years—the neighbors, families, and friends. The conversations, the errands, and the day-to-day moments that filled this place with life.

Today the shelves hold books, antiques, flowers, and collected treasures, but the building still carries those stories with it.

And that’s one of the things I love most about having events here…

Whether it’s a baby shower, birthday, anniversary, workshop, or gathering of friends, each event becomes another layer in the story of this old store. Another memory added to a place that has been collecting them for generations ✨

Someday, someone may stand in this very spot wondering about the people who gathered here before them.

And, who knows, maybe they’ll be wondering about your story too! 🧡

Have a wonderful, warm week!

This past Saturday’s 802 Arts House ‘Bizarre Bazaar’ at the Brick Store was such a fun day 🎨

It was really special being one of the Vermont locations participating in this statewide event organized by 802 Arts House — bringing together artists, makers, small businesses, and creative spaces across Vermont for a day centered around handmade work and community.

Since we just celebrated Mother’s Day, I’ve been thinking a lot about motherhood and running a business…and how different it looks behind the scenes than people probably imagine 🫶🏼

Most days are a mix of beautiful chaos, multitasking, creativity, and figuring things out 😁

A lot of my work happens in the middle of everyday life:
• answering emails during nap time
• returning messages while making lunches or after they’re in bed
• thinking through new ideas while driving or mopping floors
• squeezing in little moments to paint or create, because that part of me matters too 🤍

Sometimes it means I’m a little slower getting back to people than I wish I could be. I love good conversations and thoughtful replies — some parts of this season of life often look more like texts, emails, notes, and doing my best to respond between all the moving pieces.

And…I’m grateful for all of it 🥰

Back in college, I learned about “opportunity cost” — the idea that when you choose one thing, you naturally give up time for something else.

I think about that often now…

Running the Brick Store means giving pieces of my time to this old building, to events, to cleaning, to emails, to keeping things moving forward…while also balancing family life, helping with other business responsibilities behind the scenes, and trying to carve out time for creativity and for myself too.

Some days it feels beautifully balanced. Other days it feels a little wild 😸

But after this Mother’s Day weekend, I mostly just feel thankful that I get to try!

Thankful my kids are growing up alongside this building. Thankful for every person who rents the space, sends a message, attends an event, shares a post, or supports this little dream in some way.

You’ve helped make it possible for me to build something meaningful while still being present for the people I love most.

And to all the moms out there juggling businesses, work, creativity, caregiving, and a million invisible tasks at once — you’re doing amazing 🤍

Mopping these floors has a way of bringing me back in time.

The motion of it, the water, the old boards underfoot… it feels like stepping into a long line of people who have cared for this place in their own steady, quiet ways over the years. Just doing what needed to be done to keep it going.

Today I’m a little bit of everything — caretaker, event manager, host, cleaner, stylist, problem-solver… all adding up to being the full-time steward of this old building. And honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

It’s work, but it’s also connection. To the space, to its history, and to all the moments still to come here.

If you’ve been thinking about hosting something — a gathering, a dinner, a workshop, a reason to bring people together — I’m always happy to help you make it happen here.

Happy Tuesday, friends 🧡
