Here’s something we talk about a lot around the office: how we communicate matters almost as much as the work itself.

Our clients don’t see every line of configuration or every security patch. What they do notice is whether we pick up the phone, explain things in a way that makes sense, and keep them in the loop when something goes sideways.

Great IT work keeps your business running. Great communication is what makes you feel taken care of. We aim to do both, every single time.

Questions about your tech? Give us a call at (541) 726-7775 press 6. A real person will answer.

Having data backups and being able to restore from them are two different things.

Three questions to ask whoever manages your IT this week:
1. When did we last restore something from backup, not just confirm the backup ran?
2. If our main system went down tonight, how many hours until we're working again?
3. Is at least one copy stored somewhere ransomware can't reach?

If the answers are vague, or it's "we've never tested it," that's your sign. An untested backup is a guess.

We'd rather help you find the gap on a quiet Tuesday than in the middle of an outage. Message us or use the link in our bio to set up a backup check.

Office move IT checklist: the things that usually get remembered the week before.

→ Where the network closet goes, and whether it has power, airflow, and a lock
→ Wi-Fi coverage for the new floor plan, not the old one
→ Porting your phone numbers, which can take longer than the internet install
→ Leased printers and copiers. Check whether the vendor has to move them.
→ Door access, cameras, and alarms tied to your network
→ Cabling. Empty spaces often need new runs before anything gets plugged in.
→ A cutover plan so your team isn't offline on day one

Most of these have lead times measured in weeks, so start the list early.

Save this for your move, and share it with whoever's running it.

Thinking about switching IT providers? Make sure you're not leaving without the keys.

Quietly confirm you have (or can get) these before you give notice:
→ Admin access to your email platform, like Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace
→ The login for your domain registrar (whoever controls your web address controls your email)
→ Firewall, Wi-Fi, and network equipment credentials
→ A list of every software license and who's being billed for it
→ Where your backups live and who can restore them

A good IT company hands all of this over without a fight. If getting it feels like pulling teeth, that may tell you a lot about the relationship.

Save this for when you're ready to make the call.

Most businesses don't go looking for managed IT services until something breaks. By then, you're choosing under pressure.

If any of these sound familiar, it's worth a conversation now:
→ The same issue keeps coming back after it's been "fixed"
→ Your internet provider, printer vendor, and software company all say it's someone else's problem
→ Someone on your team has become the unofficial IT person, and it's not their job
→ You're not sure your backups would actually work if you needed them

Good IT support should make those problems smaller every month, not just patch them when they flare up. And when something goes wrong, you should reach a real person.

Most business owners have never once questioned whether their IT provider is actually doing the job right.

Four questions will tell you fast: are they monitoring proactively, do they have a plan before something breaks, will they show you your own documentation, and do they already know every vendor touching your network.

If any of those get a shrug, it's time to look elsewhere.

Manual tasks don't feel expensive because there's no invoice for them. But hours spent on repetitive work every day, across a whole team, add up faster than most businesses realize.

We recently automated a simple paper processing task for a client and saved them $100K a year. The first step wasn't automating. It was mapping out what was actually being repeated.

It always picks the worst possible moment. Mid-presentation, right before a deadline, the one time you can't afford 45 minutes.

Updates matter, but nobody should have to choose between security and getting their job done. There's a better way to manage the timing.
