Outdoor spaces need outdoor-rated power 🔌

Backyard season is here — which means pools, patios, landscaping, and outdoor projects are getting more use.

Before plugging in, keep a few electrical safety reminders in mind:

⚡️ Use extension cords rated for outdoor use
⚡️ Keep cords and electrical connections away from standing water
⚡️ Replace damaged cords — don’t repair them with tape
⚡️ Make sure outdoor circuits are properly GFCI protected

A tripping GFCI isn’t always a sign that the outlet itself is bad — it’s often doing exactly what it was designed to do: detecting an issue and helping protect you (and even your pets) from electrical shock.

If your outdoor power isn’t working as expected, don’t ignore the warning signs. A little prevention goes a long way in keeping your home and family safe this summer. ☀️

Project Spotlight | Letchworth State Park ☀️⚡

John Mills Electric recently completed a 43.0kW solar installation at the North Maintenance Building in Letchworth State Park for New York State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

The project included a roof-mounted system of 100 solar modules and 25 microinverters, designed to offset the building’s electrical usage while sending excess energy production back to the grid through net metering.

With winter conditions impacting roof access, safety and coordination remained a top priority throughout installation.

Another example of JME delivering reliable energy solutions that help support long-term efficiency and sustainability across New York’s public infrastructure.

Project Spotlight | Palmer Homes – Lowman, NY ⚡️

JME is currently completing phased service upgrades for Palmer Homes as part of a larger renovation project in Lowman, NY.

This project involves installing new service pedestals and upgrading existing boards to provide safer, more reliable, and code-compliant electrical connections across the property.

By utilizing our PreFab Shop, our team is able to build and organize each installation ahead of time — reducing on-site work from 3–4 days down to just 1–2 days.

To date:
• 8 pedestals completed
• 2 more pending
