Did you know? (Interesting Fact)
Apple released the Apple III in 1980, featuring a sleek, fanless, and ventless design that was ahead of its time. Unfortunately, that futuristic approach came with a major flaw. The computer frequently overheated, causing internal components to slowly creep out of their sockets.
Frustrated with his malfunctioning Apple III, Apple engineer Daniel Kottke reportedly picked it up and slammed it down on his desk. Eureka! The computer started working again.
Eventually, Apple officially instructed support staff to tell customers to lift the computer several inches off the desk and DROP IT. The jolt would reseat the loosened components and, with a little luck, bring the machine back to life.
Apple has come a long way in the last 46 years, but we still keep a mallet around just in case.
