How is strontium produced in stars?
A research team led by FRIB and including scientists from Argonne National Laboratory has taken an important step toward answering that question. Researchers conducted the first experimental investigation of a key nuclear reaction involved in strontium production, reducing a major uncertainty in how scientists model the process.
The new measurement brought simulations into better agreement with astronomical observations, helping researchers better understand how elements are produced in stars.
