New equipment on the horizon. New skills to match. Brandon Bigos and Gino Nuzzolo of Newington-based Atlas Stamping & Manufacturing Corp. recently completed their third training course in CCAT's Digital Manufacturing Pathway!

With a new Haas mill on the way, they're building practical skills in SOLIDWORKS CAM, model-based definition (MBD) and manufacturing automation.

Our Faculty Fellowship cohort is underway! The program brings faculty from colleges and universities across Connecticut to CCAT’s Digital Thread lab for hands-on experience with digital manufacturing technologies and workflows they can bring into the classroom.

Last week our team helped bring manufacturing to life for students across Eastern Connecticut. We joined our partners at ReadyCT and the manufacturing community at the Manufacturing Careers Roadshow at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, where students explored the careers and technologies shaping the industry.

Our team shared how advances in robotics, automation, model-based definition and additive manufacturing are changing the way products are designed and made.

Great to be part of a day that brought students, educators, industry and community leaders together, including Congressman Joe Courtney. We’re grateful to ReadyCT, Goodwin University and all the partners who helped create a meaningful hands-on experience for students.

What happens when educators, industry leaders, technology experts, and policy professionals come together to talk about AI? Lots of thoughtful conversation and even more great questions.

CCAT recently participated in Kaltura Connect, where discussions explored how AI, video, and digital learning experiences are shaping education, workforce development, and the skills needed for the future.

We were proud to be represented by CCAT Chief Technology Officer Dr. Amy Thompson, who participated as a panelist, subject matter expert, and AI thought leader, and CCAT Senior Technical Trainer and Curriculum & Training Manager James Brino, who joined a panel in his role as a professor and educator. Their sessions highlighted the growing connections between AI, learning, and workforce readiness.

One takeaway stood out throughout the day: as AI becomes more integrated into education and the workplace, skills like critical thinking, communication, and responsible technology use are more important than ever.

CCAT Team Member and event attendee Raquel Bolling captured the spirit of the event when she shared, "it became clear that we are part of a much bigger regional conversation around AI, workforce development, and digital transformation."

🔍 What does advanced manufacturing really look like?

For interns in the Connecticut Manufacturing Internship Program, a recent tour of SPIROL and Defibtech provided the answer.

From precision-engineered fastening and assembly solutions at SPIROL to the lifesaving AEDs and emergency response technologies manufactured by Defibtech, students experienced firsthand how innovation, engineering, and problem-solving come together to create products that make an impact around the world.

One of the highlights of the day was a hands-on CPR and AED training session. Interns not only learned valuable emergency response skills, but also gained a deeper understanding of how the products manufactured at Defibtech can help save lives when every second counts.
Experiences like these help students connect classroom learning to real-world careers, meet industry professionals, and discover the many opportunities available across Connecticut's manufacturing sector.
