5 YEARS OF BUILDING CONNECTIONS!
This past month marked our 5th year in business.
What a roller coaster ride these last five years have been.
Everyone always talks about the percentage of small businesses that never make it past the five-year mark. This year, we crossed that benchmark, and looking back, it's hard to believe how far we've come.
CKG Enterprises started as nothing more than an idea in my head during my final semester at Pennsylvania College of Technology. At the time, I had no idea what direction the company would eventually take.
Shortly after, a family member who owned a campground was struggling to get reliable internet service throughout their property. We decided to take on the challenge and find a solution.
The truth is, we didn't succeed right away.
But that's part of business. You work through the setbacks, learn from your mistakes, and keep pushing until you find a solution.
A special thank you goes out to Tyler Grim and Randy Grim of Stony Fork Creek Campground for trusting us to tackle a problem that many companies failed to solve. Stony Fork became the proving grounds for what would eventually become our specialty, and without that opportunity, CKG may never have grown into what it is today.
Once we got their system working, word spread quickly. Before long, we were attending conventions and talking with campground owners from all across Pennsylvania.
Looking back now, it's crazy to think about being 21 years old, less than six months out of college, quoting projects that cost more than some people make in an entire year. At the same time, I was working a full-time job and building the business during nights and weekends.
There were nonstop weeks of 100+ hour spent chasing the dream.
We started working out of the back of a pickup truck, eventually upgraded to an enclosed trailer, and this January we purchased our first brand-new service vehicle to better support our clients.
We had hoped to have the new service rig, nicknamed "Mega Red", ready for this anniversary announcement, but a few design challenges with the body are holding up the wrap. That's business—we'll get through it. So stay tuned for that unveiling!
We are also excited to officially share that this week we acquired a permanent home base for our operations. While there is still plenty of work ahead of us, we can't wait to begin building out an official office and create a space that supports the next chapter of CKG Tech Solutions.
A special thank you also goes out to Bruce Serio and the team at Mountain Creek Campground for trusting us to help solve some of their biggest technology challenges. Opportunities like these helped us grow, learn, and continue improving our services for campgrounds and resorts across the country.
We would also like to thank the Pennsylvania Campground Owners Association (PCOA) & Pa Camping, along with every campground owner, manager, partner, vendor, and customer who has supported us over the years. Your referrals, recommendations, and willingness to share our name with others have been the driving force behind our growth.
What started with one campground tucked away in the mountains of Tioga County in 2021 has grown into serving more than 37 campgrounds and resorts spanning from Illinois to the Jersey Shore.
When I stop and look back at where we started, all I can think is:
Wow... we're just getting started.
To everyone who believed in us, trusted us, recommended us, challenged us, and supported us along the way—thank you.
This milestone belongs to all of you as much as it does to us.
