GrubMaster visited My Village Pub (MVP) on Siesta Key, Florida. Although seafood is the focus in this beach resort town, their wings were the focus for this visit. With a reasonably good selection of sauces to choose from, the pick was house special Mike's Hot Honey Garlic. The wings arrived surprisingly quick suggesting the probability of pre cooking the wings in advance. That being said, they were hot and slightly crispy with moist and juicy flavor and texture. The sauce was reasonably good with a nice balance of heat along with the honey and garlic. Although they were not from the fryer crisp, they did have a good enough texture. The blue cheese had good flavor and plenty of crumbles but failed the stand up challenge and the pour test. Anyone near this beautiful beach location should make it a point to visit MVP with their wings getting a respectable 7.0 out of 10. Rate your wings at

GrubMaster made a return visit to The Bar at Main and Hamlin in East Aurora, NY. Past visits and public commentary regarding the overall good quality of the wings here were not the case for this visit. Both orders of Hot Garlic Parm and Habanero did not live up to the expectations. Both sauces had a good flavor profile and a nice heat level but that was the best part. The wings were a mixed bag of sizes with the smaller ones overcooked to the point of being dry and hard with the larger ones barely crispy. The skin seemed to be almost leathery and difficult to chew to the point where you did not look forward to the next one. Not sure of the issue, maybe a different grade of wings but just not the quality this establishment is known for. The blue cheese however was thick and flavorful as always passing both the stand up challenge and the pour test.  It's anticipated that this is an exception with a follow-up plan for another time however for this visit the Hot Garlic Parm and the Habanero get a disappointing 6.5 out of 10.

Grubmaster visited Molly Goodheads Raw Bar, your typical old time Florida eatery, somewhat off the beaten path in Ozona, FL. Molly's has a laid-back Key West atmosphere and although known for it's raw bar and other seafood dishes it has 126 items on the menu, with new specials being added regularly so there's something for everyone. Of course this quick stop was to check out the wings. There is a limited number of sauces to choose from so Hot was the choice to see how they measure up. The wings were served piping hot with a nice even coating of sauce which had a good flavor profile that was more than just straight hot sauce with a medium-plus heat. They were nice and juicy but could have spent another minute in the fryer to get that perfect crispiness. The blue cheese was standard issue passing the stand up challenge but failing the pour test. A true Buffalo scale rating would be an easy 7.75 and compared to local options they get a bump to 8.0. Anyone in that part of the country would be advised to definitely find your way there. GrabMaster visited the Black Smoke Bourbon Bar in the heart of the village of Hamburg, New York for their Wednesday 20 wing and 2 beers for $20 special.  The selection for this amazing special was Honey Cajun and Hot Garlic Parm. The wings were served piping hot and covered perfectly.  The Honey Cajun had a real good balance of sweetness, saltiness and heat. One thing to note and as mentioned in prior posts regarding a honey based sauce, as tempting as it is to dig right in, letting the wings cool a bit to allow the honey to gel results in much more flavor sticking to the wing.  The Hot Garlic Palm wings tasted as amazingly good as they looked. The perfect combination of heat, garlic and parmesan made these wings some of the best from a flavor standpoint that you could get anywhere.  The blue cheese was thick and flavorful easily passing the pour test and the wing bone stand up challenge as no veggies were served with this special.  In both cases the wings could have been just a little more crispy keeping them out of the 9's but earning a very respectable 8.75 out of 10. GubMaster visited the American Legion Post 275 in Dunedin, FL for their monthly Wing Ding special.  This very active Post is arguably one of the most popular and best run veterans organizations around.  Expectations for the comparison of the wings to traditional pubs that serve them daily were tempered. However the overall experience was as good or better than many of the establishments that do this on a daily basis.  The order was for hot wings as understandably there were a limited number of flavors to choose from. The wings were cooked to a real nice crispiness and the hot sauce was thick and flavorful enough to be called hot.  The blue cheese was exceptional, easily passing both the stand up challenge and the pour test and could be used to patch nail holes in drywall in an emergency. 😀  Overall, a great visit with the wings getting a very respectable score of 7.0 out of 10. This post welcomes American Legion members from all over the country and we thank them all for their service.🇺🇲

GrubMaster visited the Riley Street Station in East Aurora, NY. There is a ton of history with this property. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, this building served as a stop along the legendary Pennsylvania Railroad. Today it was a stop for wings. Honey Cajun and house special Mob Sauce were the choice. The wings were served piping hot and cooked to a perfect crispiness. Anyone wondering what a perfectly cooked crispy wing should be like, these were it. The Honey Cajun had good flavor, unfortunately it seemed to be applied to the wings fresh out of the fryer which caused the honey not to stick on the wing as good as it could have. The best wing was the last one after the honey had time to gel. The Mob Sauce was an interesting combination of Worcestershire, Butter, Garlic and Hot Sauce. In both cases, although the flavors were there, each sauce could have used a little more pizzazz. The blue cheese passed both the stand up challenge and the pour test. East Aurora has easily become the location with the highest concentration of top rated wing spots within a one mile radius with the Mob Sauce getting an 8.0 and the Honey Cajun getting an 8.25 out of 10.

GrubMaster made a return visit to the Pinehurst Pub in Dunedin, FL to check out their Monday night 75 cent wing special. For this visit it was Hot Garlic Parm and Turbo. Both orders were served piping hot but could have had just a bit more crispiness to them. The sauces were as expected with the Turbo having a nice hot peppery flavor that lingered without being overpowering. The blue cheese failed both the stand up challenge and the pour test. The Hot Garlic Parm get a 7.0 and the Turbo a 7.50 out of 10. Overall still a good visit, with TV's everywhere for catching any sporting event and really good Buffalo style wings.

GrubMaster made a return visit to Buffalo Charlie's in Dunedin. FL. The wing order for this visit was Hot Garlic Parm and Su***de.  As it was with prior visits, the wings were served piping hot and cooked to a perfect crispiness. The Hot Garlic Parm were coated nicely with sauce that was more of a traditional medium plus heat and sprinkled with fresh shaved parmesan.  The Su***de wings were not over powering with a true hot heat level and a good flavor profile. The blue cheese was thick with some nice chunks and passed both the stand up challenge and the pour test. Still one of the best true Buffalo wing places around these parts with Hot Garlic Parm getting an 8.0 and Su***de an 8.25 out of 10. Let everyone know your best pub grub locations and reviews at

GrubMaster made a return visit to the Mill Street Sports Pub in Ellicottville, New York.  This time for a couple other Western New York favorites, a Beef on Weck and a Fish Fry.  A prior 8.0 rating for their Beef on Weck stood up once again.  The beef was flavorful, thinly sliced and melt in your mouth tender with some good sinus clearing horseradish. The roll was good enough with one suggestion to put a cover on the au-jus to avoid it spilling inside the basket on delivery which completely soaks the bottom of the roll maling it almost impossible to pick up. The Fish Fry was a Cajun Broiled which was cooked perfectly and was nice and moist with a good coating of cajun spice along with a roll, potato and choice of 2 other sides. There's plenty of seating for larger groups so don't hesitate to visit Mill St. with both the Weck and Fish Fry maintaining a respectable 8.0 out of 10. Rate your pub experience at

GrubMaster picked up a to-go wing order from Lil's Deli in Machias, NY.  With a limited number of sauces to pick from, it was Medium and Sweet & Spicy to accomodate those less adventurous.  Typically the expectations are not high for to-go orders however in this case these  wings did not disappoint. Upon pickup they were piping hot and had a nice crispy crunch and easy off the bone. The sauces were as expected with the medium having a good flavor and true medium heat.  The blue cheese barely passed both the stand up challenge and the pour test however no veggies were included. Anyone passing by and looking for good grab and go grub, give Lil's a try with these wings getting a 7.0 out of 10.
