Why does my professional logo designer start designing in black and white instead of color?

Logos need to work in black and white for many applications, with a focus on long term functionality, pro designers start in black and white.

We also usually present only black and white options to ensure that color does not distract from the logo mark itself during the decision process. Once a logo is chosen, then color is added.

Why does my professional logo designer give me a black and white version of my logo?

Logos need to work in black and white so they can have a solid "color" version for use in screen printing, embroidery, black and white ads etc.

A .png is a file that can have a transparent background, it is most often used for online things such as your website, ads etc.

What is a Vector and why does my logo designer give me one?

A vector file is able to shrink down very small or be blown up to the size of a billboard without looking pixelated and bad.

Professionals designers need special programs to use a vector file. They provide it to you so you can give it to other professionals who make t-shirts etc that needs the vector version to work with. The file usually ends on .pdf, .ai, or .eps.

Why does my professional logo designer provide so many different file formats?

We provide multiple options for the business owner to use in different applications.

For example, a small .jpg file will look pixelated if you try to make it too big, so we provide both large and small versions (among other formats.)
