I was reading 1 Corinthians 13 last night.

1Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body [a]to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

4Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not [b]puffed up; 5does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, [c]thinks no evil; 6does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10But when that which is [d]perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

11When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

13And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Funny how some use these verses as argument for ceasationism. "When that which is perfect comes..."; however, we are called, anointed, and appointed to be Love until Perfect Love returns.

We are to speak love.
We are to emanate love.
We are to prophesy love.
We are to pour out LOVE in every and all opportunity.

There will come a day when HE - LOVE, the Perfect One will return. Then there is no need to do what we have been commissioned to do as believers on this earth.

But HE ain't come yet, so we still have love - to share, live, give, and be! đź’•đź’•đź’•

Job 3:25 “For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me, And what I dreaded has happened to me.”

Have you ever felt like Job? Like all the things you did not want to happen have happed? Promises yet to be fulfilled? Breakthrough always just around the corner but never quite there? Do you feel like something is holding you back from walking in the purposes and calling you have on your life?

If so, I want you to pause and look in the mirror, because 9.9 times out of 10, the thing holding you back is you! I know that sounds harsh but it is the hard truth we all need to understand.

Job had everything going for him and then he lost it all. Many would say it was the devil but even Job recognized it was him standing in the way of living out his best and fullest life.

Let’s look at the verse above again. “That which I have feared has come upon me.”

Fear of loss in any way, shape or form is in itself saying, “God, You are a lier!” When we fear we will lose a relationship, we exalt that person above God. When we’re in fear over a diagnosis, we are placing that thing above God. When we’re afraid to not get to that next rung on the ladder or achieve some form of notoriety, we place ourselves in higher esteem than God.

Anything or anyone we fear, we exalt above the Creator of All Things! And when we do this, it/they become the object of our worship rather than the ONLY WORTHY ONE!

So if you’re living out some type of Murphy’s Law situation or find yourself just not getting that breakthrough or reaching “the promised land”, perhaps we need to cry out to our loving, merciful, and great God and ask Him to give us right vision and perspective.

Lord, what am I not seeing in this situation that I should be seeing? Lord, who (or what) am I holding in a higher place than You? What would You have me do, say, be to walk in the fullness You have promised?

Let’s be less like Job at the beginning of the book and more like Job at the end…

Job 42:5 says, “I had heard of You [only] by the hearing of the ear, But now my [spiritual] eye sees You.” AMP

It is time for us to see beyond our natural sight and hear beyond our physical ears. God is calling us to “Be still and know He is God”!

I am seeking input on a proposed monthly blog or newsletter that delves into the world of Bible translations. The content would cover the translation spectrum, core components, historical background, and publisher options, including bindings, sizes, and colors. I’ll also address reader questions on Bible topics (as I’m able) and/or topics of interest.
