The "Wiregrass Area" of the southeast covers parts of Southeastern Alabama, Southwestern Georgia, and Northwestern Florida, and is so known because of a type grass (that used to be!) found in the region

Wiregrass Amateur Radio Club Meeting this Thursday evening 6:30pm at American Red Cross Building, 1004 Montezuma Avenue, Dothan, Alabama.

W4DHN Field Day at Northside Methodist Academy in Dothan starts Saturday June 27th. Testing starts at 10am (last chance before the new tests start in July). Radio contacts start at 1pm.

Saturday, May 30th, 2026, the Wiregrass Amateur Radio Club under the direction of Jimmy Hassell held another fun and exciting Fox Hunt at the Eastgate Park in Dothan. Began about 9am and finished before the nasty weather came in. Nine folks showed up to cavort and tweak their hunting skills. Dothan, Enterprise, Daleville and Marianna clubs participated. A man not yet licensed from Mariana won the Baofeng Handheld radio prize. Great job!

Wiregrass ARES group had a POTA activation Weekend Camping trip from last Friday April 10th to this morning (Sunday the 12th) at Blue Springs State Park in Alabama. Had a wonderful time with lots of contacts made. Pancake breakfast on Saturday with hotdog and hamburger lunch as well. Even had time around the campfire!
