PRESS RELEASE :
My name is Dave Kerby - 'Son of the Milkman'
1. 'SON of the MILKMAN '- Title of my upcoming book. I am literally the son of the milkman. As a tribute to my 100 year old dad (Bill Kerby) I fully restored museum quality a 1965 DIVCO Milk truck painting it exactly like my dad's 1965 Twin Pines milk truck. After 1 1/2 of restoration, Oct. 2020 I shipped it from California back to where we both were born Detroit Michigan. (before /after pics attached) Nov. 2020 Drove it up to my dad's house on his 100th birthday. We were all in tears as he stood there teary eyed from my big surprise. This is the last Twin Pines truck in Michigan.
2. TWIN PINES Farm Dairy- Detroit's own local dairy with over 1000 milkmen that ruled as the #1 dairy in Michigan. (Attached pics) GOOGLE; DIVCO for any additional information.
3. DIVCO milk trucks- Divco is an acronym which stands for Detroit Industrial Vehicles COmpany. Divco became known for its multi-stop delivery trucks, particularly in use as home delivery vehicles by dairy producers. From 1926 until 1986, Divco produced trucks of various sizes and job descriptions. The inconic milktruck being the staple of the company. (see attached pics)
3. MILKY the CLOWN- Clarence R. Cummings Jr. portrayed Milky the Clown for Twin Pines Dairy. Milky’s Party Movie premiered on WJBK in 1950 but moved to WXYZ in 1955. Three years later the show moved to WWJ and was renamed Milky’s Party Time. A new format included a live audience, cartoons, magic, and games or contests between teams of boys and girls. Every kid wanted to be on Milky's Party times show. GOOGLE; MILKY the Clown for any additional information.
4. Bill Kerby- WWII 'Battle of the Bulge' Hero; Unfortunately, my dad passed away a couple weeks ago at 101 years old. he is quoted in the US library of congress for his feats of valor. Bronze Star, and (2) purple hearts. Always my hero, which is why I restored the milk truck in his honor. (pics attached)
5. WOODWARD CRUISE- Without a shadow of a doubt I can tell you that the most 'Iconic and Nostalgic' vehicle at the WOODWARD CRUISE will again be my Detroit born and raised TWIN PINES MILK TRUCK. No matter where we are. Me and my Twin Pines milk truck. It's like being a rock star !
Planning on having the time of my life. So much fun cruising with my Twin Pines milk truck as a tribute to my dad. (Who recently 'changed his address to heaven' on 3 July 2022 at 101 yrs old). Hearing all the childhood milk man stories from the crowd and of course every baby boomer asks for 'Milky the clown'. Well Milky will be with us this year. Hands down, that will be the biggest hit of the Cruise along with the Twin Pines milk truck. I am so blessed, wherever I take the milk truck it seems to immediately bring joy, laughter and so many funny childhood stories. Glad I can help bring some good clean positive nostalgia to others. People indulge in reminiscing and want to share with me a perfect stranger. The iconic Twin Pines milk truck, only in Detroit, where we were both born. I love coming home and driving the only Twin Pines truck in Detroit. Truck #431 with my dad's name ( Bill Kerby & sons) on the side in his honor. Can't get better than this. Brings me back in time. Just like nothing ever changed.

6. TWIN PINES Milk Truck- The milk truck is stored in a secure industrial facility along with; Ferraris. Bugatti's, Lamborghini's etc. Super funny, the owner of the facility says that all of the 'super car' owners always go straight for the Twin Pines milk truck while in the facility. It is so Iconic. Makes me feel really good. Like I really did a good thing as a tribute to my dad. I had a 1/48 scale toy manufactured also. (pic attached)
*Please note: Happy to schedule an interview. I will be flying to Detroit tomorrow Thursday 18 Aug. available to interview with the Twin Pines milk truck: (Contact info below) Thursday afternoon or all day Friday. The milk truck is parked in a secure facility in Pontiac near the M1. I will be driving the Twin Pines Milk truck at the Woodward cruise on Saturday. We will also have 'Special guest' MILKY the Clown with us at the Woodward cruise.
Kind Regards,
David Kerby Sr.
