I have stated this multiple times, but McLean Data is receiving many questions from clients asking if the image of an email is legitimate?
NO, IT IS MALICIOUS!
>>Cement this in your head,
>>Rule #1: Microsoft or other email providers will NEVER send you an email asking you to click a link to enter your email credentials. This is an attempt by BAD actors to highjack your email account.
You could check the "from" address, but you should not even investigate that far - see Rule 1, then delete then delete from deleted items.

Everyone should have a credit monitoring service to assist with alerting you to any odd or malicious activity at the very least and there is advice out there as well to "lock" all your credit if you are concerned, if you are concerned there may be an issue contact your financial institutions and speak with the proper personnel.

McLean Data Solutions recently has had many clients reaching out stating that they recently have received email saying their email password is going to expire and they need to "click here" to validate email credentials or go to a link and input their password. If you look at the "from" address you will see it is some obscure email scammer. DO NOT ever click on any links like this, DO NOT ever give your email or other passwords to any email or text inquiry no matter how legitimate they seem. Delete these email and disregard them, be smart and be safe.

iPhone users need to check for latest security updates, currently you should be on 17.2 and accordingly you should upgrade to 17.3 in the near future when it becomes available. Hopefully you have your phones set to automatically upgrade the operating system but if you don't then go to settings / general / software update to check.

Just a helpful suggestion, I continually see people "tagged" in spam/malicious content, I'm sure these people do not desire to be tagged....someone they know has been hacked and the hacker posts malicious content and tags friends from the account they compromised.-------here's what you should do -- turn on reviewing before tags appear on your page. I have mine this way, hell even if my own wife Kris tags me I have to approve it. Be proactive against stopping the spread of this type of garbage.
To turn tag reviewing on or off for your Page:
Log into Facebook, then click your profile photo in the top right.
Click See all Profiles, then select the Page you want to switch into.
Click your Page’s profile picture in the top right of Facebook.
Click Settings & Privacy, then click Settings.
In the left menu, click Privacy and then click Page and Tagging.
Below Reviewing, you can click to turn review on or off for:
Reviewing posts you’re tagged in before the posts appear on your Page.
Reviewing tags others add to your posts before the tags appear on Facebook

Multiple threat actors foreign and domestic are attempting to exploit Outlook / Microsoft systems again. check for Windows updates NOW and make sure you have the most recent updates installed. This applies to all of my clients and any of my friends, it is not to be ignored. Just press the windows key on keyboard (windows logo) and type the word updates, you will be shown “check for updates” do it and install any available updates right now. See article: [https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/microsoft-s-latest-patch-tuesday-is-here-fixes-numerous-flaws-some-critical/ar-AA18F2KF?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=26dbab394e6a40e0afa080f4681297c8&ei=7](https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/microsoft-s-latest-patch-tuesday-is-here-fixes-numerous-flaws-some-critical/ar-AA18F2KF?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=26dbab394e6a40e0afa080f4681297c8&ei=7)

IMPORTANT!----->For those of you using iPhone/iPad/MacBook.....
Make sure you install the very latest update now: The latest version of iOS and iPadOS is 16.3.1......Security risks have been discovered. If you use a Macbook update that to latest version of macOS which is 13.2.1 ----People who are everything Mac are lured into the false perception by fans of Mac products that "they don't have the security concerns the Microsoft devices do" this is a fallacy and is dangerous. There are ever increasing security threats found in the Apple ecosystem and they mandate you constantly check for and install updates. Be vigilant in doing so, the info on your mobile devices and or iPad or MacBook can be at risk. Many users have updates set to be automatic while many do not, check and see and if the update is available do it now.
