After 28 years of transformative leadership, Plinio Ayala will step down as CEO of Per Scholas at the end of 2026.

We are deeply grateful for Plinio’s leadership, friendship, and partnership with our founder, Helen Young Hayes, and ActivateWork. As he shared during a fireside chat with Helen last year:

We're looking for volunteers for both in-person and virtual Mock Interview Days:
🤝 In-Person: October 27 from 1:00–3:30 pm at the ActivateWork Denver office
💻 Virtual: November 3 from 1:00–3:30 pm

By participating, you'll help ActivateWork learners practice interviewing, receive valuable feedback, and build confidence before entering the job market.

As a volunteer, you'll:
✅ Conduct mock interviews with one or more learners
✅ Ask questions from a provided interview guide
✅ Share feedback to help learners identify strengths and opportunities for growth.

No prep required—just bring your professional experience and willingness to support someone's career journey.

Juan Marquez has always been driven by the desire to create stability and opportunity for his family. Despite challenges throughout his life—from early hearing loss to losing his job during the pandemic—Juan never stopped moving forward.

He joined ActivateWork’s training program, stepped into a cybersecurity apprenticeship with Ping Identity, and quickly excelled. That experience led to a full-time role, followed by a promotion to DevOps Engineer, and ultimately helped his family achieve a huge milestone: buying their first home.

Juan’s journey shows what can happen when motivated individuals get access to the right support and on-the-job learning.
