Someone in the greater Delray Beach Florida area posted this list of discounts for senior citizens and most of these companies are national and I think it's pretty interesting. I mean like for example the only coffee I ever drink is dunkin donuts (that's just me obviously but just as an example)... if I had the time to go to Dunkin Donuts every cup I ask for is absolutely free mainly because ... well to put it gingerly, I'm old!!

Read down... I think there's something here for everyone and some of these discount are substantial.

begin here:

I was at Wendy's recently, I heard a guy ask for his senior discount. The girl at the register apologized and charged him less. When I asked the man what the discount was, he told me that seniors over age 55 ...get 10% off everything on the menu, every day. (But you need to ASK for your discount.)

This incident prompted me to do some research, and I came across a list of restaurants, supermarkets, department stores, travel deals and other types of offers giving various discounts with different age requirements. I was actually surprised to see how many there are and how some of them start as young as 50.

This list may not only be useful for you, but also friends and family, too.

Dunkin Donuts gives FREE coffee to people over 55. If you're paying for a cup every day, you might want to start getting it FREE.

YOU must ASK for your discount!

Last night Microsoft released a warning that there is a very viral worm invading Windows 10 pcs.... that's the bad news. The good news is that they've already developed an update that stops it and is distributing it in updates since last evening....

My worry is Windows 10 updates happen on the default anytime it feels like it and it doesn't care what you are doing at the time.... so I'm concerned that some of you may have changed that to 'never' or late in the evening without thinking you shut down your pc every night before you go home.

So.... if you have no idea what I'm talking about then your windows update schedule is probably still doing the default and keeping your updates current.... on the other hand, if you do know what I'm talking about then going back to settings > windows updates and put it back the way it was.... or call me if you forgot how.

This is important if you did change that schedule so please give this priority or (as I said) call me..... nobody wants to be the pc that crashed the entire office!!

This is a hidden distribution to all Av .Net Tech clients and strategic partners:

Firstly, let me emphasis this pertains to Windows 10 machines only.... previous versions ie Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 (and the few Vista's left) are NOT effected...

Here's the deal....

Microsoft downloaded a complete system update last week or so and it was a good update except it did one thing.... it installed and activated "Windows Defender Security Center" (a successor to Microsoft Security Essentials) and when it did so it partially uninstalled and disabled your antivirus software....Malwarebytes was not effected and those two are working fine side by side....

Now....

the Windows Defender Security Center seems to be really very good... I even 'fed it' some of the viruses I've 'captured' over time and keep in it what I like to call my 'dungeon' and it caught them and ate them up pretty dern good... I don't know if HIPAA has passed on it yet but from what I see they probably will.

ALSO....

the Windows Defender Security Center will work side by side with your anti-virus just as it does with Malwarebytes.... we just need to reinstall it and after that it even lists it in it's dashboard (although it does recommend using only one anti-virus) it will work and play nice with others....

So.... if you need my assistance for a reinstall, "be strong and courageous and fear not" ..... just call me.... and remember this is just Windows 10!!

To All Av .Net Tech Doctors and Strategic Partners:

I wanted to let everyone know about this major update that Microsoft is rolling out to all Windows 10 machines. It's an important update as it contains a number of cybersecurity controls to help defend against some of these exotic attacks of late.

The warning is because you will see a box pop up lower right and it will say that the download is complete and then give you options. Do not tell it to proceed unless your at the end of the day because it will tie up your machine for a good two hours!!

My suggestion is to use the tool that allows you to schedule a time and just set it for something like midnight or 3 am or some other "unGodly hour" like that …. it will do a restart in the middle and continue on …. in this fashion you should have it all done and ready for by the time the day is ready to begin.

I would not recommend just postponing it though…. I would guess that Microsoft has a good reason and ignoring might set you up for issues down the road from unfriendly places.

To all Av .Net Technologies LLC clients, partners and friends:

Here's what I've done to try and stay up and running after the hurricane in the event of power shortage....

I purchased a mophie which if performs as described will give me an additional 33 hours of power to my cell in the event we loose electric… also I have logmein on my phone so I'll be able to connect if there is an emergency.

I tried Zello app on my phone and it worked well… this is a walkie-talkie type software…. if cell service goes down it doesn't necessarily mean 4G will go down or my ISP…. as long as I have 4G or a wireless connection you can use Zello (if you choose to download and install it) to contact me as well.

I will send out an email blast either way... to let all know electric and cell service are up and running and I'm business as usual or to remind all about the mophie and the zello if I'm needed.

This is a blind distribution to all Av .Net Tech clients and strategic partners:

If you've had time to watch the news there is a Category 5 hurricane heading my way. The winds on this thing are sustained at 185 mph and the building codes were raised to 130 mph after Andrew and we all thought that was way overkill. Right now it's the second biggest recorded tropical cyclone in the history of the Atlantic and may just overtake Donna back in 1959 as it's soon be going over warmer waters.

There is going to be power outage and internet outage.

Please bear with me….. I will get back up and running as soon as I possibly can. On the other hand there is one model that has it just turning north barely grazing us and heading up the Atlantic. Perhaps this will all turn out to be a moot point.
