There’s something I want to talk about that's been on my mind lately....
I do NOT like or use AI-generated artwork.
There, I said it. 😮💨
AI has made it incredibly easy for anyone to type in a few words and instantly get a “logo.” I'm borderline obsessed with pointing this out when someone presents me with AI art. (Barry is so sick of hearing about this 🙄). The problem is that we’re starting to see the same results everywhere. Logos, flyers, shirts and business graphics are beginning to have that same recognizable look: different name, different colors, slightly different layout… but somehow still the same design.🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Beyond just the look, AI-generated artwork can be incredibly inconsistent. Lines change thickness for no reason. Lettering doesn’t always connect correctly. Details melt into each other. Gradients everywhere... I mean, er'where... jeez🙄🙄. Shapes that look good on your phone screen, can become a complete nightmare when it’s time to actually 'print, trace, cut or w**d the design.'
I don’t just design something that looks good in a Facebook post....
I DESIGN ARTWORK THAT *****WORKS.*****
When I create custom lettering or modify a font, I digitally draw and refine it using specific design programs... and Procreate, cause well, it's PROCREATE 🥰😁🥰. I clean the lines, correct the curves, adjust the outta wack nodes, fix spacing, build consistent bold strokes (I love a bold black monoline😍😍😍), and make sure the design will reproduce properly. I have even created special procreate brushes just to do this. I mean, even MULTIPLE artists at Jade Monkey Tattoo use one of my brushes to draw y'alls tattoos (the mommy brush... I didn't name it that🤦🏻♀️) Who knows, maybe even Noel uses it... 😏😏 iykyk.
SO WHAT DOES THIS ALL MEAN??
It means my custom designs have:
*Cleaner, bolder and more consistent lines
*Lettering intentionally created for the design
*Artwork that can be traced cleanly for vinyl
*Designs that can actually be cut and w**ded without losing the tiny details
*Cleaner printed graphics
*Better scalability (super important)
*BUT most importantly, a logo created specifically for YOUR BUSINESS, not something generated from the same visual recipe, being handed to thousands of other people EVERYWHERE!🤬
Do I use technology? Absolutely. Every digital artist does.
But there is a difference between "using digital tools to create artwork" and asking a program to CREATE the artwork for you.
When you hire me for a custom logo, you’re paying for my time, my creative eye, my drawing abilities, my adjustments, my experience with what will and won’t work, and most of all... those ridiculous changes I make because one curve being slightly off will bother me for an eternity.... Or until I forget... Whichever comes first 😂.
Your business deserves its own identity.
Not just another AI-generated version of everybody else’s.
