Ask five people in your organization to define software compliance, and you may get five different answers.

Software compliance means using an application strictly within its license agreement, including seat counts, deployment scope, user roles, and permitted use cases. It’s a contractual obligation, not a best practice.

This blog explains how compliance differs from optimization, what a software compliance policy should include, and how to get started without a full audit team.

Most of what teams learn about managing engineering software, they learn the hard way: from an audit they didn't see coming, a renewal that didn't go their way, or a project stalled waiting on a license.

OpenLM Connect UAE 2026 is a chance to learn it from people who've already been through it.

Swipe through for five things you'll take home after one evening at DIFC.

The evening's panel, "Navigating the new era of engineering software: control, vendor models & AI," brings together voices from KPMG Middle East, NYBS Consulting, Rdash, EPCPROMAN and OpenLM. Expect straight answers on subscription licensing, keeping control over critical applications, and where AI is genuinely helping.

Most engineering teams can tell you how many licenses they own. Far fewer can tell you who used them last week, which ones sat idle, or what they'd show an auditor tomorrow.

That gap shows up as engineers waiting on licenses, audits that catch teams off guard, and less say over critical applications every time a vendor changes its licensing model.

On 28 October, OpenLM Connect comes to Dubai. It's the first in-person event in the UAE dedicated to managing engineering software. Come hear how your peers handle visibility, audits, changing vendor models and AI, and what's actually working for them.

Who's it for?

πŸ”Ή IT and software asset managers
πŸ”Ή License managers
πŸ”Ή CAD operations managers
πŸ”Ή Procurement heads
πŸ”Ή CIOs, CTOs and CDOs

You'll be in the room with peers from diverse industries, including oil & gas, construction & AEC, infrastructure & GIS, aerospace & defence, automotive, manufacturing, and more.

Managing users, groups, and access permissions across multiple systems takes time, and manual updates leave room for errors.

OpenLM Directory Synchronization automates the sync of user accounts and groups between your directory services, such as Active Directory, and the OpenLM Platform, helping keep access consistent and secure across your organization.

Join Dominik Kvasnička, Technical Support Engineer at OpenLM, for a live walkthrough of the setup, from installing the Directory Synchronization Agent (DSA) to configuring automated sync.

OpenLM Connect brought together IT leaders, license managers, and CIOs in Pune for a focused conversation on controlling cost, maintaining compliance, and adapting to vendor change as licensing shifts toward subscription and AI-driven models.

The evening featured practitioner sessions from OpenLM and Adrialic Solutions, followed by an executive panel on the future of engineering software licensing as it moves toward subscription and AI-driven models.

Take a look back at the evening ⬇

Software costs don't shrink on their own, and with AI adoption accelerating, license sprawl is only getting harder to track.

At π—Ÿπ—² π—™π—Όπ—Ώπ˜‚π—Ί by ElΓ©e this September, our CEO and Co-Founder Oren Gabay, Business System Analyst Kevin Meir Amzallag and Implementation Engineer Jonathan Said will be sharing what OpenLM sees across enterprise software estates every day β€” and practical ways SAM and IT procurement teams can turn that visibility into real savings.

Come find us in the room β€” we'd love to compare notes on what's working (and what isn't) in your software asset management strategy.
