It is almost here. On October 22, we officially celebrate 25 years of Network Solutions Unlimited, and you are invited to celebrate with us.

Twenty five years ago, this was one person who loved fixing problems and helping people. Today it is a team that businesses, nonprofits, and practices across Central Illinois trust to keep them running. What has not changed is why we show up: technology should serve your mission, not the other way around.

This milestone belongs to our community as much as it belongs to us. To every client, partner, and neighbor who has trusted us, thank you. Save the date for October 22 and celebrate 25 years with us.

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and most of the advice that comes with it disappears by November. So let us keep it simple. Here are five security wins you can actually finish this month, no big budget required.

Turn on multi factor authentication for email. Remove old accounts from people and vendors who have moved on. Store at least one backup somewhere an attacker cannot reach over your network. Write a one page rule for verifying payment change requests. And confirm your cloud files are not shared with the public.

One month. That is all that stands between today and a milestone we are proud of. On October 22, Network Solutions Unlimited turns 25.

Back in 2001, Frank Saulsbery started with a simple belief: listen first, explain clearly, and always show up. The tools have changed completely since then. That belief has not. We have grown from emergency repair calls into a full technology partner for businesses across Central Illinois, and we have done it right here at home.

Some relationships that began in those early days are still going strong. That is not about technology. It is about trust and treating people like neighbors.

This month we're celebrating IT Professionals Day and the technicians, engineers, and help desk teams who keep businesses running, often without a word of thanks. The best of them lead with the heart of a teacher, explaining instead of talking down.

HIPAA, FINRA, attorney-client privilege. If your industry's compliance rules feel like their own impossible language, you're not alone. Most business owners assume every sector faces a completely unique burden.

Look closer, though, and the same ideas show up everywhere. Know what sensitive data you hold, control who can access it, protect it, and be able to prove it. Once you see those common threads, compliance stops feeling like a hundred separate mountains and becomes one repeatable habit.

You have probably seen the phrase zero trust in security conversations and even insurance requirements. It sounds a little cold, but the idea is refreshingly simple: never assume trust, always verify.

The old model treated your network like a castle with a wall around it. Anyone inside was trusted. But your team now works from home, the road, and the cloud, so that wall has dissolved. Zero trust grants access based on proof, not location. And despite a common myth, it is not just for big companies.
