Fashion and Design Society at UC Davis Students in DES 179 Signature Collection spend winter quarter designing and producing one of a kind collections that highlight their talent and skills.

The Fashion and Design Society (FADS) at UC Davis is a student-run organization created to support the UC Davis Design program’s fashion capstone class, DES 179 Signature Collection. FADS plans, organizes, and presents the annual Picnic Day Fashion Show in Davis, CA to showcase the student designers' garments.

All the contestants looked absolutely incredible and we’re so happy to have had this celebration. Thank you ☀️SOL y LUNA🌙 for your help and effort organizing this event.

🏵️ Congratulations to our winners, 🥇Juli, 🥈Natalia, & 🥉Estrellita, and all of the other participants. You all looked absolutely stunning, we loved hearing about the inspirations behind your looks and seeing all your effort.

Hii everyone! ★ I’m Sophia, one of the editors-in-chief of this year’s FADS magazine!! I am a third-year Comparative Literature and Design double major, also pursuing a Film Studies minor ✿📽️📼

Some fun facts about me are that I’m a libra ⚖️ and my favorite items in my closet right now are my rings and my white fillet crochet top ~ My favorite thing to do is watch movies and talk/write about them, I love that film can incorporate so many different types of art to tell stories 🏹

My favorite FADS memory is when we had pitches for the editorial shoots, I loved seeing such ambitious creativity and how supportive everybody was about all the directors’ ideas! ˏˋ°•*⁀➷

fads magazine questions and answers for anyone curious about our upcoming issue! ⊹ ࣪ ˖ ⊹ ࣪ ˖

we want to emphasize that there is high interest for layout designers & marketing, and the teams will be pretty small, so it’ll be more selective. we will putting a priority on passionate people who want to work in the fashion / magazine industry willing to make the commitment. however, there will be other opportunities to design for fads, such as editorial shoots TBD, and if anyone ever wants to talk about anything design, avalon is always down for a coffee chat if you email asking about it!!
