They are commonly described as having human female form with brown or dark blue skin, backward facing feet, and very long manes of smooth, glossy hair that covers their bodies.” Focusing on Carribean folklore since it’s often ignored in the mainstream here. ✨

“Gatekeeping can be done in a multitude of ways and in particular can be to toxic to our growth as artists personally and professionally.”

That being said I’m coming back, hell yeah! Here is a preview of my view from my mini studio room.

This reminds me why when I was digital artist back in the early 2000s my university professors made damn sure that I would never make it in the top 10 for scholarships. They’d let me come in for the top 20 and get me close enough to scholarships but they’d always scoff at the work that I did because it wasn’t good enough for them and they didn’t want the fine arts department to be marred by digital art.

Note: The professors were not my beloved mentors, Jane Kunin and Clive King. Incredible humans and several others who’ve since retired.

She was everyone’s aunt and definitely left an impact on me. My life partner ’s lovely Aunt Lolli Knox Salazar. She was proud, fun, stubborn and incredibly wise. I made a promise to finally finish this in her honor. ✌️
