Sometimes the best business lessons come from messing around with something just to see if you can do it.

Our own Ethan Wooley used AI to build an application in his free time — and in the process learned a pretty important lesson:

Just because you CAN build something with AI doesn't necessarily mean you SHOULD.

Especially when that fun little experiment starts becoming something your business actually depends on.

Ethan shares what he learned — and why “it works” isn't always the same thing as “it's ready for business” — in today's op-ed:

Talking about AI readiness is easy. Investing in the education required to create it is something else.

GTIA understands that AI literacy is quickly becoming essential across the technology industry. They believe in its importance enough that they made CompTIA AI Essentials training available to members at no additional cost.

That is meaningful industry leadership: not simply telling technology providers to prepare for AI, but investing in the education that helps us do it.

At IntegraMSP, we share that belief. Our entire team completed the course and earned their CompCert.

The goal is not to turn every employee into an AI expert overnight. It is to give our team a shared understanding of what AI can do, where it can fail, how to use it responsibly and when human judgment must remain firmly in charge.

That education helps our people use AI more thoughtfully. It also makes us better prepared to help our clients evaluate tools, recognize risks, establish guardrails and identify practical uses that support their businesses.

AI is moving quickly. Education is how we help our team—and our clients—move forward confidently and responsibly.

Thank you to GTIA and CompTIA for investing in the knowledge our industry needs.

Claude experienced another outage overnight, and we received service calls from clients whose work was affected.

That tells us something important. AI is no longer just an optional chatbot for many businesses. It is becoming part of coding, customer service, documentation, and other daily operations.

If an AI outage can interrupt your work, it is time to understand where your business depends on it and what the backup plan is.

AI may be new. Dependency management is not.

For Feel-Good Friday: An experimental version of Claude was asked to tackle the Riemann hypothesis, a math problem that has stumped people since 1859.

It didn’t solve it—but it did develop a new proof that made real progress on a mathematical bound researchers had worked on for decades. Human mathematicians reviewed and verified the result.

The non-mathematician guiding the process mostly offered encouragement: “Keep going.” “Believe in yourself.”

Apparently, even AI occasionally needs a pep talk.

Remember when moving everything to the cloud was supposed to eliminate infrastructure headaches?

It did not eliminate infrastructure. It moved it somewhere we could not see.

Eventually, businesses learned that cloud applications still required reliable internet, strong security, independent backups and a plan for outages.

AI is giving us a very similar lesson—only this time, it may also be absorbing parts of the human process behind the work.

We have seen this pattern before. That means we have a chance to handle it better this time.

What would happen at your company if your preferred AI tool suddenly stopped answering?

Would a few emails take longer to write—or would customer requests, internal processes and critical work stop moving?

Claude’s outage did not last long, but it offered businesses a useful little fire drill. Many companies are relying on AI more heavily than they realize, without documenting where it is being used or what employees should do when it is unavailable.

Keep using AI. Just make sure your business can still function when AI takes an unscheduled coffee break.

Anyone who has spent a summer in Dallas knows the heat is no joke. In neighborhoods dominated by pavement and buildings, with limited greenery, temperatures can climb even higher.

That’s one of the challenges Texas Trees Foundation is working to change.

Since 1982, the organization has helped create greener, healthier North Texas communities through urban forestry, research, education, and community programs. Their work means more shade, cleaner air, cooler neighborhoods, and outdoor spaces people can actually enjoy—even in August.

We’re proud to support Texas Trees Foundation and the lasting difference they’re making in the community we call home.

Special thanks to our own Suraya Smith for helping us tell their story so thoughtfully.

Here’s to a greener—and a whole lot cooler—North Texas. 🌳

AI can help create better business content. But who owns the thinking behind it?

Anthropic's move toward watermarking AI-generated content raises some practical questions for businesses already using AI for marketing, communications and other public-facing work.

The issue isn't whether AI was used. It's whether someone reviewed the work, verified the information and is willing to stand behind what's published.
