If you are drafting the AI policy, this is your first line. Not because it is complete, but because it is the only rule anyone will actually recall while a deadline is on fire.

Everything else in a good policy is a refinement of it: which tools are sanctioned, which data classes never leave, which workloads stay inside your own tenancy. All of that matters. But a rule nobody can remember is not a control, it is documentation.

Worth reading twice if discovery is your control. Every shadow IT program built in the last twenty years assumes the thing you are hunting has an address. Scan the range, find the rogue box, bring it under management.

A paste into a browser has no address. Which means the spend moves from discovery tooling toward the far less satisfying work of classification, training, and a sanctioned tool people will actually use.
