Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is primarily bordered by South Sepulveda Boulevard to the east, Imperial Highway to the south, Pershing Drive to the west, and West Westchester Parkway (which transitions into Arbor Vitae Street) to the north.Because of the airport's massive layout and runway infrastructure, the perimeter is broken down by the following primary arteries:Perimeter BordersEast Border: South Sepulveda Boulevard (State Route 1) acts as the main eastern boundary. However, it tunnels directly underneath the south runways. Aviation Boulevard sits just east of Sepulveda and handles a massive portion of the airport's cargo operations.South Border: Imperial Highway runs completely parallel along the southern airfield, separating LAX from the city of El Segundo.West Border: Pershing Drive runs along the westernmost edge of the property, separating the runways and sand dunes from the Pacific Ocean and Playa del Rey.North Border: West Westchester Parkway and Arbor Vitae Street secure the northern airfield line, bordering the Westchester neighborhood.Internal ArteryCentral Hub: World Way is the dedicated multi-level loop that curves completely inside the main horseshoe terminal area, directing all incoming terminal traffic. West Century Boulevard feeds directly into this loop from the east.
