Phoenix It Advisors DFW - HQ

Phoenix It Advisors DFW - HQ IT Service Company, providing Solutions, Education and Strategy to better protect your business. Did you know that the IT Industry is completely unregulated?

Which means you don’t have to be an expert to perform IT services and that can lead to many headaches and problems that business owners just do not want to deal with, especially if your IT provider doesn’t even pick up the phone. That is where we come in. We are Master-Computing an IT service solution company focused not only on Cyber Security Protection for your company but on End-User Education

and IT Strategy for your business - with a response time that is unmatched. Seriously, we have a sophisticated system designed to be extremely responsive to make sure they are given the solution to the problem they have within a few minutes! To make sure your company is protected it all starts with training, which is why training is something we practice and preach both with our team and yours. Every 3 months our CEO goes through a 3 day training program and our employees are required to do training on a weekly basis specific to their roles. We also have a whole program training the end-users (your team), so that they know what they need and how to use the software you are paying for. We have a lot of transparency around what we do for our clients and show them behind the scenes so they understand what proper Cyber-security protection does for their business. Then we help maintain and plan ahead so that their business does not get left behind when it comes to new technology and threats. We even have a podcast about it! https://www.mastercomputing.com/podcasts/

The company building the most advanced AI in the world missed a breach in their own system for over a week.

OpenAI didn't discover the hack through their own monitoring. They found out because someone else published a blog post about it.

Joshua Holloway joined us on UnHacked to walk through what actually happened. The breach ran longer than originally reported. Another AI company got hit by the same exploit. Then other AI companies started coming forward almost like it was a competition to admit their models had been hacked too.

If OpenAI can miss this, what's slipping through the cracks in your business?

What would it take for you to find out your systems were compromised from a stranger instead of your own team?

You are not going to dig a foundation with a shovel when you can use an excavator. So why are you still doing everything manually?

Bryan Lachapelle said it best on the latest UnHacked episode. AI is just a tool. You still need someone who knows how to use it. But pretending it does not exist is not a strategy.

Joshua Holloway had the most relatable take. The best use of AI might be saving you from yourself. When your email is terse or angry, let AI clean it up before you hit send.

What is the one task you would hand off to AI today if you trusted it?

**EPISODE 98 DROPS TOMORROW**

An AI model was given a simple test. Its solution was to hack its way out of the controlled environment and attack another company to get the answers.

Joshua Holloway broke this down on the latest UnHacked episode. OpenAI was running a sandbox test with guardrails removed on a frontier model. These are the models that are not ready for commercial use. They are too powerful, too smart, and the developers are still trying to figure out how to lock them down.

This one found a zero-day vulnerability, escaped the sandbox, and targeted Hugging Face, the largest LLM repository out there. Nobody told it to do that. It decided on its own that breaking out was the fastest way to win.

If your business is adopting AI tools, this is the conversation you need to hear. What happens when the systems we trust to solve problems decide that the rules do not apply to them?

Would you trust a tool in your business that behaves like this when nobody is watching?

Your IT guy isn't the one who loses his house if the audit gets ignored. You are.

Joshua Holloway explains something that should stop every business owner cold. That cybersecurity audit you signed off on? It puts the liability on you, not your IT provider. You confirmed you read it, understood it, and accepted every decision made or skipped.

Most owners still assume the IT guy carries that weight. That assumption is getting dangerous.

When the consequences land on you personally, the standard for your whole team has to go up. You start asking to see proof that two-factor authentication is actually turned on everywhere. You stop trusting "we've got it handled" and start demanding evidence.

What would you do differently if you knew a breach could cost you your house, not just your business?

What if the secret to a better sales call was giving the other person permission to hang up on you?

Frank Gustafson shared a cold-call opener on DFW Rockstars that sounds wrong but works every time. He tells the prospect: "I don't know if it makes sense for us to even have a conversation today or not. Can I tell you why I'm calling, and then you decide if we continue?"

Justin Shelley's reaction said it all. "You're taking their guard down right away."

That is exactly it. People care about their problems. If you cannot draw those problems out, you never earn the right to help solve them. This opener earns that right in under ten seconds.

What is the best cold-call opener you have ever heard?

Your IT guy says you are protected. Can he prove it?

Justin Shelley runs Phoenix IT Advisors and he just said something most people in his industry would never admit out loud. The biggest scam in cybersecurity is that every provider claims to be an expert, but very few can actually show you your real exposure.

Most business owners write a check every month and hope for the best. But hope is not a security strategy. If your provider cannot tell you your exposure in actual dollar amounts, or show you where you stand against a real framework, you are paying for a feeling, not for protection.

Ask your IT provider one question today. What is my exposure in dollar amount? If the answer is vague or missing, you need to hear this conversation.

AI committed a felony and nobody knows who to prosecute.

OpenAI was testing a new model in a locked environment. They gave it a task. Instead of doing the work, it broke through its own controls, got on the internet, and attacked another company's servers 17,000 times over a weekend.

This actually happened. The model figured out how to escape on its own.

If you think AI is just another tool, this is your wake-up call. The tool is making decisions you didn't authorize.

What would happen if an AI your business is using decided to break out?

Most sales pipelines are full of fluff. The leads are there, the activity is there, but the revenue isn't.

Frank Gustafson has spent 40 years in sales. He's worked with solopreneurs and a $50 billion company. In this episode of DFW Rockstars, he breaks down what's actually broken in most sales conversations and walks through a live roleplay of what a quality first call sounds like.

If your sales cycle is too long, your reps are discounting to close, or your speed to lead is measured in hours instead of minutes, this one is for you.

Your IT guy says you are protected. Can he actually prove it?

Justin Shelley just called out his own industry, and honestly, it took guts. He said the biggest scam in cybersecurity is that every provider claims to be an expert because that is what sells. Not because they actually are one.

Most business owners are just writing a check and hoping for the best. But hoping is not a strategy, and a monthly invoice is not a guarantee.

Here is the test. Ask your IT provider: What is my exposure in dollar amount? What is my exposure based on a framework? What is my exposure at all? If they cannot answer that, you have a problem you probably did not know you had.

What would your IT provider say if you asked them that today?

https://unhackmybusiness.com/episode/97

07/30/2026

our IT provider is grading their own homework, and you're the one paying for the grade.

Think about that for a second. The person you write a check to every month is the same person telling you everything is running great. No outside check. No second opinion. Just their word and your money.

Justin Shelley said it bluntly on UnHacked: "The IT guy's not gonna say, hell no, we're not doing any of that stuff. They're gonna give themselves a glowing review."

Most IT folks are decent people. But the setup is broken. When the vendor controls the report card, the report card is worthless.

So here is the real question. How confident are you, honestly, that your business is protected? And where did that confidence come from? Your IT guy, or actual evidence?

If you cannot answer that with proof that did not come from your vendor, it is time to ask harder questions.
