Nobody wants to say it out loud, so Justin Shelley did: AI is going to replace some jobs, and the people losing them might still come out ahead.

He doesn't pretend it won't happen on the latest UnHacked. People will be replaced. Paychecks will disappear. But he's looked at what happens next, and history is on his side.

Every time humans have built a better tool, quality of life has gone up. Not just for the people holding the tools. For everybody. The person mowing lawns today might be doing something they actually want to do tomorrow.

It's a hard argument to hear if you're worried about your own job, or your team's. It's worth hearing all of it.

What if AI doesn't take your job, it takes the worst parts of your job?

That's the argument Justin Shelley makes on our latest episode. The people doing unskilled labor don't get replaced, they get elevated. Better tools mean better jobs and better pay. The grunt work nobody wants, the stuff that pays garbage, that's what goes to the machines.

And the bigger hope? That we stop working 60 and 80 hour weeks just to feel successful. That efficiency actually buys back some of our lives.

An entire industry can profit from you staying sick. That same backwards incentive is hiding in a lot of IT contracts too.

On this episode of UnHacked, Justin Shelley points out something uncomfortable: healthcare companies make money on new medications, vaccines, and treatment plans, all of which depend on people staying unhealthy. He believes the real winner in the future will be whoever figures out how to profit from keeping people healthy instead.

That same idea applies to cybersecurity. A lot of IT companies make more money fixing problems than preventing them. It's worth asking who benefits when things go wrong, and who benefits when they don't.

An IT guy saying he wants AI to take his job? That happened.

Justin Shelley, host of our podcast UnHacked, got honest on the latest episode. He didn't get into technology to fix printers, troubleshoot slow computers, or figure out why a backup didn't run. He called that stuff boring, and said he loves that AI is starting to handle it.

His response to the "AI will take our jobs" fear: good riddance to the dumb jobs. Do work that doesn't suck the energy out of you instead.

Justin Shelley said something out loud that most business owners only think in private: the vendors we depend on own us.

He's retooling his entire company because he's tired of not controlling where his data lives, who gets breached, and what a vendor does when things go wrong. His point is simple. When everything is outsourced, accountability gets outsourced too. If a client gets breached, is it your fault or the platform's? And how would you even check?

He thinks AI is about to swing the pendulum back, with businesses bringing their data and processing in-house again.
