Illuno

Today, we remember September 11, 2001. Twenty-five years later, like so many of us, the images remain seared into our memory: firefighters and police officers running toward the danger and thousands of lives changed in a single morning.

At illuno, we have the honor of working alongside the men and women who carry that same spirit — officers who still answer the call every single day, without hesitation. We remember the 2,977 lives lost, the thousands who were injured, and every first responder who has carried the weight of that day for the last quarter century.

Their courage didn't end in 2001. It's still out there, in every shift and on every street in America.

We will never forget.

This week marks 25 years since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. As thousands ran for their lives, NYPD, PAPD, FDNY, and other first responders ran toward the danger. 2,977 lives were lost that day, including 343 FDNY firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, and 37 Port Authority police officers who gave their lives to protect others.

That courage never faded. It shows up every day across our nation, in the quiet moments no one sees.

We have the honor of working alongside the men and women of law enforcement who carry that same spirit forward, on every shift, in every city.

To every officer we work with, and anyone who has ever worn the badge: thank you. Today, and always.

We will never forget.

Not all security is created equal.

Our network of local off-duty officers aren't just a badge - they're a consistent deterrent, ID.me verified, trained, and legally able to act when something actually happens. Traditional guards can't say the same.

The numbers back it up. Illuno fills 90%+ of shifts. The industry average sits at 30-40%. If your current security resource can't guarantee coverage, it's not really security.

Running an off-duty coordination business on your own has a ceiling. Insurance, float pay, coverage gaps: they all cap how much work you can say "yes" to.

illuno gives coordinators the infrastructure to scale: payment handled, coverage in place, and access to a nationwide network of vetted officers.

illuno connects businesses with off-duty and retired law enforcement officers for security — vetted, trained, and ready when you need them.

Traditional security staffing is slow, inconsistent, and often leaves you understaffed on the day that matters most. illuno replaces that with a platform built specifically for booking real officers, not just guards in uniforms.

The result: security you can actually rely on, backed by people trained to handle real situations.

Unfortunately, traditional security guards are scarecrows. They look the part, until the crows figure out it's not the farmer. And that's when loss (or worse) happens.

Vetted, off-duty law enforcement officers change the equation. Real deterrence, the authority to actually step in when something goes wrong, and a proven track record that businesses trust.

illuno founder Augustus Hellwich sat down with John Lee Dumas of the Eofire.com podcast to talk about the future of security and the intense vetting that goes into every illuno booking.

One story says it all: a man used forged federal police credentials to try to work as an officer on illuno's platform. Our team caught it, reported him to the FBI field office in Dallas, and warned every competitor in the market. Despite that, one of them hired him anyway, and he was placed on a security detail for U.S. Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett.

If it can happen to a sitting Congresswoman, it can happen to your business. Those issues don't happen at illuno.

The average police officer in America is taking home half their pay from off-duty work. For officers, off-duty security isn't a nice-to-have. It's how they put food on the table.

At the same time, major retailers are shutting down stores across the country because crime has gotten out of control. They need security, and they need it now.

Supply on one side. Demand on the other. So what was standing in the way?

The middleman. Specifically, local government and the friction of working through the B2G system.

So Illuno founder Augustus Hellwich made the call: cut out the middle. Go straight to the businesses that need protection. Go straight to the officers who want the work. Connect them directly on one platform.

That's Illuno. No red tape. Just supply, meeting demand, directly.
