A while back I was asked to rebrand a student ministry. Rhythm was the name and I went along with the pulse of a heartbeat but also some audio controls that would be worked into principals that the ministry strives to embody.

One project I was tasked for a church was to come up with rack cards that would be bold and eye catching that the church could populate with information about their ministries and programs. I was requested to present blank masters to which the church could then add their own information. (Bonus, the Rhythm Family Ministries logo was my design as well from a separate project for the church).

What are your thoughts on these rack cards?

Several springs back I was asked to create a new identity for a church softball team. There were only two early directions that I presented and what you see is very close to one of those two designs. There were several rounds of tweaking and refining, but in the end I was able to deliver a full identity that I am still proud of to this day.

What do you think of this design?

With baseball in full swing (sorry, bad pun unintended) let's look back at some branding I did for a long-running fantasy baseball league.

Many in the league live somewhere in the rust belt (Cleveland to Pittsburgh) so I attempted to incorporate elements from each city into the design. You can see buildings from each city in the skyline at the top as well as Pittsburgh bridges. The idea of the rust belt is blue collar work so I also included some steel factory imagery in the background. I drafted in colors from both Pittsburgh and Cleveland sports teams to pull it all together.

A while back I was contracted to produce a short promotional film that showcased the small-town feel of downtown Olmsted Falls and would invite tourism in the area. Over the course of a two-day shoot I had the camera take the role of a tourist walking the streets and visiting people and shops around town. I captured two leaders on camera narrating some highlights about the area, and met a lot of the shop owners and residents of the area. Post-production took a couple weeks and involved a couple rounds of revision to ensure that everyone was on the same page. The video was ultimately delivered in a digital format. I provided the clients with a digital copy as well as a link to a shareable copy. They uploaded the digital copy to their YouTube page and shared it to their official webpage and their page where it initially garnered over 22,000 views.

Several years ago I was contracted to create promotional imagery for a church block party event. I went with an 8-bit style design for the event, and crafted sizes for a website banner image, post cards in two sizes, and a 3'x6' banner.

This year I took advantage of the opportunity to refresh the Doctorheadly Art brand. This is the umbrella under which I sell all of my art projects.

Over the past few years I have used a combination of the red and blue of Head First Studios as my color scheme but for this refresh I decided to find the midpoint purple to really make Doctorheadly Art stand apart.

I gave the wordmark some extra attention with a new, thicker, more fluid font and expanded on some options with the presentation.

The head remains the same, just with a fresh coat of paint.

I even threw in some examples of the swag I put it on in my doctorheadlyart Threadless shop.

I've been doing a lot of editing for podcasts lately, audio for some of my own and for other people, and video for my own. Here is a peek at what the process (greatly sped up) looks like when in the workflow.

If you are in the market for a podcast editor/producer feel free to reach out and set up an inquiry through the website.

As the Fantasy Football season closes for another year I want to look back at a logo I created a few years back for the Overland Park Jungle Cats.

I had the amazing opportunity to create this bold and fierce logo after the team owner reached out to me on a whim. The design highlights the power and grace of a jungle cat, paired with clean, striking typography to represent strength and team spirit.

Special thanks to this client for trusting me to bring this vision to life. Being able to work with people and taking their ideas ideas and seeing them transform into something this dynamic is why I love what I do!

A while back a friend published a book based on his work with music and musicians. I had the pleasure of creating the book cover and it is still available for you to pick up and read! Here is a little bit about the book:

“The purpose of this book is simple; it is a collection of interviews the editors of EarToTheGround Music gathered over the past five years. But more than that, the book is an opportunity to show some of the rising talents in music right now. This book, ultimately, is about an act of human flourishing. It’s about how the writing process works for beautifully entertaining songwriters. It’s about learning the stories behind the heartbreak. It’s a book that seeks to capture stories within stories, making sure that readers of each of these interviews moves a bit closer to the creative process.” (Amazon listing)

It is a great read, and you should check it out! You can find it over at Amazon at https://buff.ly/2Ng5Hq0⠀⠀
