Updated**Unfortunately we are experiencing an outage due to a fiber cut that occurred in Friendsville last night. We will provide updates as we recieve them. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.
2026-06-11 15:27:05 GMT - The various construction and splice crews are working to place and prepare the replacement fiber ahead of splicing.
2026-06-11 14:37:40 GMT - The projected timeline for installation of the temporary replacement fiber and for splicing is as follows:
- Excavations and cable installation are expected to be completed by 16:30 GMT.
- Fiber tail preparations for splicing, completed by 17:30 GMT.
- Splicing, completed by 19:30 GMT.
As such, the ETR is currently projected as 19:30 GMT. Further updates and any changes to the timeline will be communicated as the information becomes available.
2026-06-11 14:33:00 GMT - The initial plan has proven untenable as crews have been unable to pull the fiber through the path due to obstructions.
As such, repair efforts are shifting to the back-up plan. The construction crew is excavating the cable conduit to pull back the fiber tails for a new splice point. The first splice crew is preparing the temporary replacement fiber tail on the south end of the span, while the second splice crew is setting up equipment at the hand hole next to the damage, for preparation and splicing once the new slack fiber is in hand.
