I wanted to explain, in my (John) words, about what we've created, why it matters, and why I am proud of this.
From v3 to v4: Why Brilliance Was Rebuilt
People often look at software updates and assume they are about new screens, flashy features, or a cleaner design. That is not what happened here.
Version 4 of Brilliance was not created to simply refresh what already existed. It was created to rebuild the foundation for what comes next.
The Standard of Accountability
Brilliance originally began in late 2012. Long before it carried the Brilliance name, it was being used internally to solve real operational problems. In 2015, we brought on our first external client, a drug lab, and the system had to evolve quickly to meet a much higher standard. That meant HIPAA-ready thinking, complete chain of custody, and the kind of accountability that could stand up to real scrutiny. The system performed exactly as it needed to and never lost a court case due to a solid chain of custody. It worked, and it worked well.
But over time, the reality became clear.
Confronting the Technical Debt
The platform was built on ASP.NET Web Forms 4.8.1. We're at the end of the line for that technology. As the years went on, we were no longer just improving a system; we were pushing against the limits of an aging foundation. Every modern expectation required more effort than it should have.
Technical debt is what happens when software lives on an older foundation for too long. The cost eventually shows up everywhere: slower changes, more friction, and a worse experience for both developers and users. That was the crossroads we reached.
So we made a decision:
* We would not patch around the limits.
* We would not keep forcing modern expectations into legacy architecture.
* We would rebuild Brilliance the right way.
A Mission of Precision
The goal of version 4 was ambitious: modernize the platform, preserve the strength of what worked, and eliminate the burden of legacy limitations without requiring those already using the system to have to start over. A full migration path without losing a single character of data.
We began architecting this new infrastructure in September 2025. Core release candidate testing was completed on April 27, 2026. That milestone confirmed what this effort was always about: proving that the new foundation was ready for the heavy lifting of the modern enterprise.
Beyond the Migration: The Business Operating System
Version 4 is the platform that allows Brilliance to grow into what it was always meant to become: a true Business Operating System.
It moves beyond isolated tools. It brings communications, CRM, accounting, inventory, compliance, security, and more into one connected ecosystem. It means creating a system that businesses can actually use and grow with, without being trapped by fragile architecture or "SHINY OBJECTS" that offer hype over substance.
The Path Forward
Expansion is already underway. We are currently architecting modules for fi****ms, point-of-sale, and scheduling. This work also opens the door for a full-featured eCommerce system that runs natively or integrates with existing platforms. With WooCommerce will be first integration we're doing.
Because we have successfully cleared the technical debt and solidified the architecture, we are now at a unique vantage point. The engine is built, tested, and idling. To meet the scale of the roadmap we’ve laid out—and to bring this level of operational integrity to the broader market—we are looking for the right strategic partner. We are seeking a single investor who recognizes the value of a "security-first" architecture and wants to help us accelerate the delivery of these next-tier modules to the businesses that need them most.
Why This Matters
Businesses do not just need software with features. They need software with a foundation they can trust. Brilliance v4 enters the market with:
* Zero Legacy Weight: Faster iteration and cleaner expansion.
* Security-First Mindset: Dedicated database models for every client.
* Operational Safeguards: HIPAA-ready, SOC 2 alignment, and CMMC awareness built into the DNA, not bolted on.
* Modular Logic: Businesses adopt what they need, when they need it.
* Developer mindset: Brilliance is an API first, with no private API, so you can integrate 100% into everything.
This was never about a cosmetic rewrite. It was about creating a resilient platform built to help companies run and grow with confidence.
That is what arrives this Friday, May 1. Not just an update. A new foundation for everything Brilliance is becoming.
