Headed down to Hudson tomorrow for a phone recovery. In a canal. Just off the edge of a dock. 7 to 10 feet of water depending on tide. 0% visibility with the bottom composition hundred percent certain several inches of fine silk, then mud and clay. Searching in pitch black conditions is nothing new. It just isn’t as fun lol.
Big thank you to for providing me with all of my dive equipment needs. They are a ScubaPro dealer. My equipment has hundreds of dives in Kings Bay where I would often exit the water completely covered in nasty mud and sludge for removing all of the disgusting waste, garbage, and chemicals by the truckload. I clean my gear every time I return home in a tub of freshwater with a splash of Odoban just as they do with all their rental equipment.
For all of you divers with old equipment and for those using pawn shop or swap meet gear, do yourself a favor and upgrade to a quality brand like ScubaPro. Your life depends on it and they will give you a really good deal. Avoid the cheap equipment from overseas that you can’t try on to fit beforehand via Amazon. It won’t fit correctly and it won’t last. I easily have 500+ hours underwater in Kings Bay and many other parts of Citrus County waterways and I’ve had zero equipment problems. And if you’re ready to open another chapter filled with adventure in your life, go and see Skip for a certification. He has decades of experience and is a wealth of scuba knowledge and technical training as an instructor.
