Less than 48 hours left on this, but if anyone need a laptop that can run pretty fast with 2GB of dedicated video memory, check out this link.. at a minimum I would recommend an upgrade to 16 GB of RAM, but it can handle a fast NVMe M.2 drive as well as have a regular sized drive in it. This one comes with a fairly small drive, but it's a SSD. For the gamers, it can handle Ark: Survival Evolved on High settings without lag with the upgrades I mentioned!

Tis the season, but some ne'er-do-well Grinches lurk about trying to gain access to important information! The example I'm sharing with you today is an older friend of mine received an E-mail claiming to be from Frontier, which he indeed uses as an internet provider. The message stated that his request to shut down his Inbox permanently had gone through and that he had two options, click one link to continue using the service(log in your details) and click the other to discontinue service. If no option is selected, it stated it would close the account permanently. The urgency behind this is a red flag, and if you or a loved one EVER receive something urging you to take action with a negative consequence and you feel there is a possibility it's real, CALL the person they claim to be by looking up the number yourself! Don't click any links or give away any information over E-mail!

Here's a post for some of the more Tech Savvy folk(those who don't know what this post means but want to learn or need upgrade advice can just ask me)!

Got a laptop you're considering adding a M.2 NVME drive to? Look up the specs for your model because modern M.2 drives generally have 4 lanes(x4) that data can travel on, but some laptops like a 2017 model Acer(E5 575-33BM) for example only have TWO lanes! If that's the case, a x4 lane M.2 will only get HALF of the potential speed that it would normally get! Same thing with a busy interstate that has half the lanes closed, right?

I managed to find a good M.2 NVME that's a x2 lane drive, so what I see is what I get even in a laptop that has only two lanes, the SN500 by Western Digital! 1700 MB/s read speed! Compared to a much new model drive that gets, say, 3000 MB/s but is four lanes.. divide that by two for our two lane laptop and the two lane drive beats the newer one by 200 MB/s!

Just a notice that applies to this week only, my job with StonePeak is going to be 6 P.M. to 6 A.M. Monday through Friday this week, I will have Saturday and Sunday off, and Monday I will be back to my normal schedule of Monday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 5 P.M. to 5:30 A.M.

If you need assistance this week, I will most likely be available from 2 P.M. until around 5 P.M. and I will be available this Saturday. Jessica replaced a laptop screen today! The customer paid the cost of the part itself and $40 for labor. They said they didn't mind if I posted pictures of it on here, so here are a before and after photo!

Our physical location has been closed but I still do the work! General hours until further notice are now Tuesday through Thursday, 2 P.M. till about 4 A.M. This will eventually change to Monday through Wednesday, and every other Thursday.. I will also make exceptions occasionally if your schedule does not work with those hours!

I am currently night shift at StonePeak doing Quality Control and ScanMaster(adjusting a computer program to detect defects on high quality porcelain tile!). It's steady income in the current world we live in, and I enjoy the work as well, but I still do computer work "on the side" for those who need it done! Contact me through call or text message at (931) 202-0822 to arrange a house call or meeting up to drop off equipment, calls around 3P.M. or later preferred for Friday through Monday! If I don't answer your call or text immediately on those days, I will usually be able to reply shortly after five!

Random tech tip if your desktop computer is taking forever to show anything on the screen! With it turned off, try unplugging everything but the monitor from the back and try to turn it on again. If it loads quicker with everything unplugged, one of the things connected may be the issue!
In the case of a customer from today, an external hard drive had failed and was causing the computer to take a very long time to start! With it unplugged, the Dell logo showed up almost instantly after the power was turned on, and Windows loaded shortly afterwards!

Big news for Techs On The Go! We will now be sharing a physical location with Apex Technology, formally known as Tech Pro! Our former bosses are great with any of your cell phone needs, including screen replacements! We are conveniently located across from McDonald's and Walgreens on Elmore Rd! Due to us changing from solely doing house calls, our prices will be changing a bit!

$37.50 is upfront for drop-off and includes diagnosis/first half hour of labor! If the issue is not known before drop off, or it takes over half an hour we will call to inform you!

$45 for a Windows install (re-install or upgrade) with a valid product key, if you need to buy a new product key this does not reflect that.

$50 for house calls, includes the first half hour of labor for locations inside city limits, additional $50 per half hour. Show up price may be more if the location is far out, and may vary depending on distance from our location in town. Call to inquire about a house call or to schedule one for after normal store hours(as available!)!
