If you run a business and don't have a proper endpoint detection and response software or business grade antivirus, you're putting your business, your customers, your employees, and revenue at risk.
Antivirus doesn't just protect you from annoying pop ups, spam and scam messages, and the occasional weird computer behavior. Business grade antivirus or endpoint detection and response software is a protection against viruses and malware, spyware, keyloggers, remote control software, vulnerabilities and exploits, and ransomware.
If you use your computer for inputting: customer information, customer credit / debit cards, doing payroll or your business accounting, logging into bank accounts, writing sensitive documents and files, etc, then you need a proper EDR or business grade antivirus.
By not having a proper antivirus, you are held legally responsible if your systems are compromised and data is access by an unauthorized person. You may also be liable to pay thousands of dollars to your card payment processor provider, the banks of victims, victims directly, and possibly fines from regulatory agencies.
Why risk thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars, the trust of your customers and your employees, and production / sales to save a few hundred dollars a month. Endpoint detection and response software is a must. Threat actors and hackers are hitting everyone, small and big.
