Jrod's Technology

Jrod's Technology I build gaming computers anywhere from that infamous budget build, to a fully custom water cooled gaming PC. That looks so good, you won't even want to use it.

Still better than most games today. I had no idea Original Quake existed beyond just the vanilla game, especially didn't expect to have pvp servers and actual people still playing online.

Now if I can only find a server running the old ctf mod with the grappling hook that is separate from the guns, your left hand uses the ghook, the right hand can still blast away while being pulled by it across the room. I know it had a name attached to the mod, for the life of me I can't remember. With people playing might help also.

Well it's been fun. But officially I'm not doing this anymore. I really just made this page to show off my builds. But now I won't be building anymore gaming computers for awhile, maybe even ever again, depending on the market. Let's see.

First RAM prices have gone up 700%. Everyone is saying AI is the problem. I'm sure it doesn't help but, AI companies don't build gaming computers. Even workstations don't use DDR5 non ECC RAM. As for GPU price increases because of RAM shortage is bullocks. You're going to have ECC RAM in your workstation, and really HBM on GPU's is better for AI training not Vram. Now if they said something like yes we're going to take the lines creating the DDR5 RAM and convert them to either HBM products or ECC. That would make sense, if there wasn't so much DDR5 available. I don't see a shortage, go do a search on online retailers that sell DDR5. You'll scroll and scroll and scroll and keep scrolling to find the end.

What I think is going on. It's just pure and simple corporate greed. And I understand that they have to make money for the investors. But chasing the next big thing has never worked out in the long run. They will have a bubble that will burst just like before with the IT bubble. Then Nvidia says, " hold my beer fellas. Lemme show you how it's done " decreases production 40% on GPU's. Then raises the price of the flagship 5090 from 3000 to 5000 dollars. Just so they could squeeze every penny they can from their customers. I'm just done with it. Every year corporations are coming up with ways to raise prices cause shortages screw over customers Corsair listed RAM for 220 dollars last week. People bought the RAM was a good deal in this climate. When they found out they cancelled the sales, came up with a BS excuse that their scam software flagged it as a scam so they had to cancel. That doesn't even make sense. You posted the price. And if you didn't and let your AI do it, you sir deserve to be scammed. So ya I'm just done. My sign will read Gone fishing. Cause that's what I'm doing.

If everything settles down in the next year, I might go back to it. But I'm thinking about how these kinds of things are here to stay. Or at the very least this up and down cycle that has been going on for awhile now. I'll probably just post fishing pictures and stuff now. Maybe when I do upgrade my PC I'll post that. But I haven't really been that regular as it is lately. But just figured if anyone did care and saw my builds I'd give everyone a reason why you won't see as many computers and more just fishing, drones. And whatever else I can think of.

To this if anyone wants a gaming computer built, I'll still do it. But I won't be building first then selling or using my own money. If you want me to build one, I'll help with parts picking, and will assemble it for you. But that's about all. And really right now I wouldn't suggest anyone to build a gaming rig right now anyway.

I'll leave a few pics of the latest builds here I have one more. I haven't photo'd yet. I'll post my last build here in a few days, good luck all and if you did come to see the builds thanks I appreciate it.

Update, custom cooling loop. Finished adding the UV cooling liquid. Not exactly what I was going for hopefully it'll grow on me.

I think I was expecting the liquid to be a little more not sure what the word for this is, dense?? Not so translucent I think would be a better way to describe it. Even in the bottle it looked way more intense of a color. Before adding it into the loop.

Dun dun duuuuun, no worky. This is why I dislike custom loops. I tried something different this time. And I think it actually made it worse for me. Cause If I can't get this thing to post without taking it apart.... Well I think you can see my problem. Although it would give me an excuse to add a few things I wanted to add. Guess I need to get my troubleshooting pants on and get to finding trouble.

A few pics, adding some wood to the daily.

Ok build completed. Here's a few pics with the glass on which makes it look not as good IMO. But for the sake of finishing.

The only thing that I didn't like was when I take pictures the stain looked really orange. In person is more like a darker red.

Few updates on custom cooling loop.

Ya not really sure why my phone is taking such crappy photos lately. Everything is apparently sparkly. But anyway. Enjoy if you can even make it out.

I finished the custom loop, put the leak detector on. It's not 100% leak proof yet, after about an hour it does go down about .2 psi. Doesn't seem like much but I'm not taking chances. Gonna have to go over every connection and hopefully find it.

Let's unleash the potential of this approach to drive traffic to my page. I have some reservations, but it's worth exploring.

AI totally didn't write this.
