Keep your software updated - this includes your operating system and any applications you use.

Use strong and unique passwords - avoid using the same password for multiple accounts.

Be cautious of suspicious emails and links - never click on a link if you're unsure of its source.

Use a reputable antivirus software - this will help protect your computer from malware and viruses.

To properly explain the difference between a Virus, a Malware, and an Exploit, we will first need to define each term. We will start to explain this very briefly:

Malware is software with bad intentions.
Virus is software that runs against your wishes and replicates itself.
An Exploit is a vulnerability in a code.

From these basic definitions, we can derive that a Virus is a form of Malware, but not all Malware are Viruses. A lot of Malware is classified as a PUP or Potentially Unwanted Program. Then an Exploit is how, or the entry way for, the Malware to enter your computer.

Trust no one, always be cognizant and skeptical...

It is getting old bad enough the computer community has no true security measures. There was a major theft of a cryptocurrency exchange DragonEx, and FEMA hack provides criminals with all the details of storm victims. I have had my information lost 6 times by the VA.

Now it looks as if major retailers will also rip you off.

Many of us would gladly take advantage of a free computer tune-up from a big-name retailer.
