GenCyber Camp Tennessee Tech As a part of a GenCyber Program (www.gen-cyber.com), this camp is an integrated part of the Tennessee Governor's School for Emerging Technologies.

Would you be surprised that the technology that makes our lives so easy and connected to each other and to the world can at the same time be abused to make our lives difficult and the world less safe? Heard news about "cyber” attacks/threats? Ever wondered what they mean and how much they really affect us? Then join our GenCyber (GENeration of CYBER Stars) counselors to take you through a Cyber Ex

pedition! You will experience everything from social engineering and finding website vulnerabilities to the intricate sides of cryptography and forensics. You will play with Raspberry Pi (mini-computer that fits the palm of your hand) to explore cybersecurity and even take one home to play with it some more! We will show you the Internet and technology from a different perspective and how easily human trust can be exploited, how websites can be taken down by hackers, how to investigate a cyber breach and most importantly, show you how to stay safe online in the age of cyber innovations and the Internet of Things. Be prepared to become a certified adventurer in our GenCyber expedition!

Today marks the grand finale of our Gen Cyber Camp! Our talented campers received awards in recognition of their hard work and dedication throughout this incredible week. As we say goodbye, we are full of gratitude because we get to help educate and see the next generation of cyber grow right before our eyes. Today was the last full day of our Gen Cyber camp, and everybody, campers and staff, really made it count! Our kids kept working on their secret code project in the morning and also listened to some guest speakers from Oak Ridge National Laboratory and members of the 502 cyber community project who talked about how these kids can keep doing cool stuff like this even after the camp. Later, one of the camp staff hid little rubber ducks in our lab science building, and the kids had a blast searching for them. We wrapped up the day by giving the campers some extra time to work on their projects, and we can’t wait to see what they’ve made tomorrow!

We've officially crossed the halfway mark of our camp! Our enthusiastic campers and devoted staff dove headfirst into the day. They got their hands on cool tools like Wireshark, which was completely new to them. Plus, they kicked off a fun and challenging cryptography activity that’s set to continue tomorrow. The students tackled these new tools and challenges as a team, and along the way, they formed great friendships and strengthened their bonds.

Day one of camp was a blast! We learned with some Linux basics, then went straight into working with some hands on activities such as an escape room in a box and wiring a basic button. The students even got to keep their arduino uno to work on more in the future! We can't wait to see what these amazing campers do today and the rest of this week.

We're so grateful to have such fantastic campers and staff to spend this week of learning with. Today we got to see the team project presentations our students have been diligently working on, and it's obvious to see how much they've adapted to working and learning together. As this years camp draws to a close, we begin looking forward to next years camp, and, using what we learned this year, we can't wait to make next years camp even better!
